nice :) i have a spir@l but with the clear/blue dye and it sucks ass...my silicon tube arent even blue they are purple and i cant see anything in teh spir@l....ill prolly order me some green dye too
The clear/blue dye doesn't suck ass, just the fact that your silicon tube are probably purple because of water wetter...
for my uses it does :) cause i cant even see it thru the spir@l block and silicone tubes...if i had tygon or vinyl then the clear/blue would do nicely...but still not glow thru the Spir@l top
heh, that looks sweet. Fix will be interested to see that
I agree blue dye-lite sucks.
mmmmmm..... that looks nice
I'm personally not a big fan of the green color. I had planned on the clear/blue. Although from what you guys are telling me, it pretty much sucks. What about the normal blue? Is it any better?
didnt the guy that did the hose-shootout (Joe im guessing) have blue dye in his tubes?
I had regular blue and it sucks. Gonna go to Pepboys and see if they have some green stuff.
herd that blue toilet bowl cleaner works nice
...but that stuff probably isnt blacklight reactive...maybe if you mixed the two??

I wouldn't suggest using bowl cleaner - corrosion and seal degradation issues are a good possibility ;)
what about using some food colouring? or some of the stuff they use to colour dangerous clear liquids?
what about ink from a highlighter?>
what about blue listerine? or scope? haha, i'm running some blue listerine in mine to kill stuff that tries to grow. No negative effects yet, but i havnt really tore down the sys to look for corosion... When my duron comes i'll tear down and tell ya about any negative effects.
I too am looking at coloring my setup blue with a blue CC. Would that work or do i need to get a normal blacklight?
any suggestion that will make the blue show up as good as that green? |
does dye-light do anything to stop corrosion and keep sh!t from growing in the water?

...I doubt, however, that it would look like this...

...or this...
(Hope this gives you some ideas, btw) |
Cool thanks, i like the blue one the best :)
the green looks pretty cool too Where did you get, or have any suggestions where to get, those UV black lights for the blue uv light and dye? Also, what's the difference between a Cold Cathode (sp) blue light vs UV BlackLight? |
where to give the dye?
I want the brightest dye available.:D |

the diff between a cold cathode flourescent light and an ultra-violet light (or blacklight as they are called) is that the CC is just color (like a regular neon, just brighter), while the UV light do not cast much light, but instead can illuminate UV reative stuff (such as dye-lite). florescent colors (neon yellow, neon orange, neon green, neon blue, etc) will also glow under a black light. a regular neon or CC cannot do this, only a blacklight can. |
I must be blind today (it's only 5:52am  ). I cant find the UV lights on either site, just cold cathode
PCMods dang these things are expensive ;p if i were to get white rounded cables, would those apear be bluish with this light? how many do i need to get a good effect? |
ok, i'd like to put some dye-lite in my water to make it glow in UV light, but i also want to put something in there to stop corrosion and keep sh!t from growing, i'll probably be putting green dye-lite in there, so what else could i put in there that would stop the corrosion but not take away from the green dye-lite color?
I use antifreeze mixed with pure distilled water. It will take care of critter growth in your fluid and parts and also protect your parts from corrosion.
Mix it with green dye-lite for the glow effect. BTW, I scoured the net for UV excited dye, and learned a few things. First off, there is no blue dye-lite, its just a blue dye, which isn't really UV excited. There is blue/white dye-lite, but its not a strong blue. You can get bright blue UV excited dye, but the only places I could find it were from medical suppliers, and it was pretty expensive no matter where you found it. I forgot the name of the substance as its understood in the medical community (the blue stuff), but you can find it via a search engine if you type "UV excited blue dye". I did find a site with both UV excited and non UV excited fluid dye that had reasonable prices (non-medical stuff). It had red and green UV excited, but the blue was again, not UV excited. You may be interested in getting some of that blue dye and adding the dye-lite bue/white to it, but then you would still need something to prevent corrosion and critter growth. -Ice- |
putting blue dye in blue/white UV dye most likely wont make it glow any better. also, most Antifreeze already glows green, so you dont need to add green UV dye to it.
to GenGoko: that is a blacklight. the cold cathodes are flourescent lights. the blacklight version is the one you want; the others ('red', green, blue, etc) will just cast colored light. you can get 4 inch CCs (including UV CCs) from ZXmods for $11 a piece. 2 or 3 of em would be plenty. or, one 12 inch from ZXmods or PCmods, mounted vertically, would also work. |
from my days playing shows... I seem to recall woolite glowing blue under a black light.
I wonder if it would bubble up in an inline system? |
