How big around are your arms? *I'm bored

Um, everyone go get one of those flexible cloth (?) tape measures and see how big your arms are around. Maybe use a string, and then measure the string or something. Don't ask me why. I was just sitting here, NOT just getting back from the bar, dammit, because I didn't feel like leaving the house, and, well, I got bored. If U R bored, you can join in this charade.

Mine = 16.5" at bicep, 14" at forearm. I go to the gym tomorrow (missed last 2 days...aaaargh!), so I'm thinkin' maybe 17" when pumped. Is a 2.5" difference b/n upper and lower arm normal? Seems like not a very big difference. Maybe it's from all the typing. :) We'll leave it at that.

.....hehe. I dressed up as Hans last Halloween. I took two long sleeve T's and stuffed pillow filling everywhere, and then sewed here and there to make 'pockets' for the filling to represent muscles. Then I put on long johns, and stuffed the filling in there to make quads and calves, and then put on my grey sweats and lifting gloves and a big belt. I here to tell you, I sweated my ass off. But then, this random drunk dude stole my buddies hat and came running towards me, so I tackled him and pinned him flat on his ass. I let him up, and he started towards me, but then thought twice and ran off. (I'm 6'5", and with that padded suit I was probably 3' across!) ...it was classic. Maybe this year, I'll actually find somebody to be Frans, so I can stop telling people, "Oh, Frans went to the bathroom. Sorry." ..you know the deal.

jtroutma 08-11-2002 01:30 AM

You need a hobbie man :)

ECUPirate 08-11-2002 01:39 AM

cmon... play along. U R still up, too. Unless SLO is like in Slovenia (sp?) or something, in which case it's probably noon.

Joe 08-11-2002 01:40 AM

one word:

wow

ECUPirate 08-11-2002 01:42 AM

....what...?

Can O' Beans 08-11-2002 02:58 AM

15" Upper arm
12.5 lower arm

They've seen little to no use lately :( Damn computer addiction

But... just got a Weider 9400 full gym system for $400, and will get a few odds & ends to suppliment what that can't do. It's been too long since I've worked out, and I've become weak & have a nice "computer desk gut" - similar to beer belly, but due to differing circumstances, lol.

I'm pretty strong over all, but being 6'6", I just don't show it as easily as the shorter guys.

ECUPirate 08-11-2002 11:24 AM

I hear ya. Damn, 6'6"? That's tall.

....I say as I sit here eating my breakfast in front of the PC, as usual.

ECUPirate 08-11-2002 05:31 PM

um, Is that SLO, as in San Luis Obispo, CA?

FoolOnTheHill 08-11-2002 09:45 PM

Me is teh uber geek.:(

10.5" bicep
10" forearm

I have girly arms.

Perhaps if I excercised.

ECUPirate 08-12-2002 01:50 AM

exercise is your friend. If you've never really worked out, it wouldn't be difficult to add an inch to your upper arms in a month's time.

I just wanna be like Steve. *hears Joe & Brad laughing*

jtroutma 08-13-2002 12:15 AM

ECUPirate,

Acutally you are correct.

San Luis Obispo, CA

Central Coast

Attended CalPoly for a while now kicking back and attending the local community college Cuesta.

How did you guess??

ECUPirate 08-13-2002 12:44 AM

My 5th grade geography teacher made us all memorize a US map. Go ahead, ask me anything. :)

Actually, I did a quick net search, and that's what I came up with. When Joe said "wow", I wasn't sure if he was talking about this thread, or about the fact that I didn't know what SLO was. I had to find out, ya know?

Oh... I was born in Sacramento, but lived there for less than 2 yrs.

Cmon people, DO play along and break out the tape measures... It'll be fun.

Bignuts 08-13-2002 05:33 AM

Well...

You know what pipecleaners look like?

ECUPirate 08-13-2002 11:36 AM

hehehe

jtroutma 08-14-2002 12:31 AM

I would play along but two things are going against me:

1) no nice tape measure

2) I am afraid that I might take first place for the smallest Bicepts :)

ECUPirate 08-14-2002 01:31 AM

hehe... see, what you do is you take a piece of string and wrap it 'round the arm, and you mark how far it went. Then you measure that length of string. ... a simple google search (I'm sure) would have told you that... hehe. :D I've been drinkin' again. wheeeeee.....

jtroutma 08-14-2002 09:39 AM

well, finding a way to measure my arm was the least of my concerns :D

Sled_Dog 08-14-2002 10:33 AM

yeah I will try and find a piece of string since i know I don't have one of those tapes. I have tiny arms. All my strength is in my legs. On machines I can press like 120lbs for like 10 reps on my arms and for my legs I can do like 400lbs for about 10 reps. I plan to join a gym when I go to school and try and bulk up and just keep in shape.

Sled_Dog 08-14-2002 10:42 AM

11.5" bicep, 10.5" forearm, 19" thigh :) ha added one. I used my microphone wire lying under my desk :).

ECUPirate 08-14-2002 11:40 AM

yeah, legs are important.. but those machines can be deceiving. Depending on how the pulleys are set up, "120" on some machines can be alot. (free weights are much better anyway) The cable pull down, for instance, goes up to "20", which you'd think would = 200 lbs. Well, I can put it on 14 and hang from the bar, and I weigh ~200. Go figure. (can still pull down 20 ) :) pull ups are my fav.

good job w/ the mic wire. ....hmmm.. my thighs = 22", but they're not that strong. (working on it) They don't look big at all. I'm tall and skinny.

Rack 08-14-2002 02:21 PM

I just happened to come across my mom's tape measurer, so I measured.
14.75" bicep, 12.25" forearm.
I haven't been doing anything but olympic lifts.
A little concentrated hypertrophy work would get the arms up over 15".

Sled_Dog 08-14-2002 03:28 PM

I considered joinging the army but joining just to bulk up is kind of stupid. My dad was as little as I am when he was my age then he went into the army and now he is a pretty big and definetally strong guy. Like I said I will join a gym out in Arizona and try and keep a good schedule. ANd yeah you are right about those machines. All I know is that I was lifting as much if not more with the leg press machine compared to the people around me. I am a tall and skinny guy too, 5'10" 135lbs

FoolOnTheHill 08-15-2002 01:10 AM

As if I didn't feel weak enough already, I appear to be holding the title for smallest arms.:(

I also have the title for smallest thighs... lol... 18"

I guess that's where I got the nickname "ScrawnyBen"

I'm 16, and 5'10" and 135lbs...

Come on, there must be girlier guys here than me... *akward pause* right?

Sled_Dog 08-15-2002 04:48 AM

same height, 1 year older and I think I am actualy 140 not 135 so.

ECUPirate 08-15-2002 10:05 AM

23, 6'4"+, and 200 lbs. Not THAT heavy for my height. When I started college, I was NOT strong at all. Skinny arms, man...

dude, 135 at that height would be perfect for cross country running.... legs might be a tad small, but running would fix that. I actually know several dudes your size.... fast as hell.

Sled_Dog 08-15-2002 11:19 AM

I thought about cross country but I don't have the endurance. You are right I am fast, faster then most people I know. I can run like 100 YDs faster then most people but I run like a 15minute mile! However if I am off road like on mountain trails covered with rocks I can run for a long long time. I have no idea why maybe just cause it is fun.

FoolOnTheHill 08-15-2002 11:38 PM

LOL ECU... funny you should mention cross country, because I used to run distance in track, and yes, I was built much like the rest of the distance team/cross contry team. Problem was, I hated it, and I was way too slow,(I could chug along forever, but never very quickly) and never came close to scoring a single point. I guess I could be fast if I wanted to, because I have long legs, but it was never anything I really enjoyed.

But, since weight isn't anywhere near a problem for me now, I don't excercise at all, unless you count running around in tribes 2 excercise. Some of my friends harass me about my lazy lifestyle, (and my ex-girlfriend was always saying how there was nothing to me... lol) but I don't really care, they all play sports anyway. *pfft*;) I'll just stick to my electronics and other geek-like activities.:dome:

ECUPirate 08-16-2002 12:50 AM

tribes 2 will get u laid every time.....

Khledar 08-16-2002 03:07 AM

Interesting thread I must say :p

Well as for myself, I'm shortish (about 5'10") weigh far too much, around 220. Upper arm was just over 15" and lower about 12.5" But all my weight is in my legs from downhill skiing and soccer; 26" around mid quad and 19.5" calve.

And I'm almost 18.

Gf wants me to loose wieght too :( - Maybe It will be a good thing :D

ECUPirate 08-16-2002 10:51 AM

damn those are some big legs. hehe... my upper arm and my calf are both 16.5". :)
