Drive Bay Reservoirs
Would anyone be interested in clear acrylic Drive bay reservoirs? Raccoon from the Pro/Chat expressed interest in it. Would you guys think such product can have a market?
|
oh I can make the acrylic out of any color. if anyone wants something to match his light.
|
I would be interested in a couple. One with 3/8" barbs, and the other with 1/2". (depending upon cost ;) ) Blue would be nice. PM me with details if you can provide them.
|
I will make a prototype and post pictures. If Raccoon likes it I can give it to him or I can just make him another one. I will try to get the prototype goin as soon as possible.

Hey, I was wondering, if having a peice run part way down the center, to force the water to have to at least somewhat go to the front and back, before going back out, to try to mix it up a little bit would help it out, I would think all you have to do is cut a piece to fit right along it, and then be about 1 inch short of reaching the front of it.
|
naah. reservoir just holds the water. No need to mix it up or anything. Not like the water thats in there longer would be cooler or anything.
|
i'll be interested depending on how they look :-)
|
Yeah, I'm in the market for a res. I'd like to check one out and see what it looks like.
Thanks Ice |
I made one a while back, it worked fine... problem was... it wasn't an air trap because it wasn't at the highest point in the system. Which is rather unfotunate.
|
In my system it WILL be the highest point in the sytstem.
I am putting the pump in the 3.5 bay, and rad is underneath the bays, and the block is barely below the resevoir |
Any cost info?
|
wont be more than $20. shipped.

How much do u charge if shipped to Singapore? I would like to have red acrylic (light red, not pink):D |
i'm still waiting for a pic of the prototype....
|
Pic! Sounds cool. I made one once, then I stepped on it while it was under my blanket in my room. It never even got used. :(
|
Still no picture yet, eh ? I think I might just go ahead and make one myself. It can't be very hard to do anyway as long as you can cut the acrylic with a straight edge and properly seal the joints.

SonixOS,
I'd buy one! If you build it, I will buy, perfer one the size of two bays. Big Al |
wouldn't the other drives near the res add heat to the system?
|
no, acrylic is a better thermal insulator than glass. If glass wouldnt, u think acrylic would?
|
so how long till we can buy one?
|
I just got drill bits today. I'll have to cut up from my old acrylic cuz i shattered one of the sides :(. happens when u go too fast. But i'll try again and come back. Tomorrow i'm thinking would be a good day to finish this up.

btw, what r u using to seal the acrylics together? the acrylic in acetone stuff or chlorofoam? |
I personally prefer solvent cement. Very good stuff. Hard to get but worth it. READ UP on it then try it. Very dangerous.
|
That would kick ass. I have the POS dangerden one.
|
Still no update on when someone can get one, eh ? No pics?

I had a recent brainstorm on a 5 1/4 res: what if it had two tubes, with a slit cut in each, to allow the coolant to exit equally? The problem is that it wouldn't have a fill point.
Something like this: |
sorry guys i've been busy with school work (end of first quarter) and girlfriend. I promise i'll get u the goods before monday. I have time to do it tomorrow (she takes fencing classes :-p)/

Hrmm...
Well...sonix, have you gotten anywhere on your reservoir. If not, www.case-mod.com now has them available, professionally made, in junction with dtek customs. If you have made one, or are already in process I may get one from you still, if not though, that is fine, and dont worry about it.
The price on them is kinda high, but not too bad for something new. Anyway, just in case anyone else want to see one http://www.case-mod.com/store/produc...roducts_id=341 hope this does not bother you any sonix, i know you were working on em, guess they beat you. |
heh yeah they must've read this thread :). Oh well. I can still make them and sell them for cheap. Theirs are expensive. Their design isnt that great either. I havent had time to go to my friend's shop to get the edges done. I'm thinkingof buying my own edger to make them. I could get them laser inscribed too but i'd have to check on pricing for that. I'll try to be back with more solid details later.

I like those drive bay reservoirs they have there, but since I prefer to submerge my pumps, I doubt I could fit my profin pump in one, not to mention that I wouldnt want to try and break the seal anyway to put on in it.
The res I have now has a very small leak. I tried sealing the barbs with Plasticoat, but I think I missed a little spot or it pitted and a small air tunnel made a path for fluid to get out. I want to just replace it with something nice, clear and professional looking anyway but nobody seems to have what I'm looking for. I'd love to get a nice 4x4x4 sturdy, clear, res with 1/2" barbs on it that I can submerge my pump in. Something with a top that is removable with a seal around it so that I can drop my pump in it and maybe has a little fill hole to add coolant. I'd love to see the res with relatively thick walls for added strength. Anybody seen such a thing? I have no confidence in my ability to make one that is clean and professional looking, so that isnt an option. If only I can get Sonix to actually make me one and not just talk about making one :) *hint hint* -Ice- |
