PIF a heatercore
Pif is "pay it forward", and has become a very big thing on [M] (genmay.com).
Pif is just giving away your old stuff to those in need. For reference, the 138 page and growing genmay thread is here: http://www.genmay.com/showthread.php...5&pagenumber=1 I call upon the watercoolers of procooling, here my call (heman referance), one of you must have a decent sized heatercore lying around. I will pif my thermaltake memory cooling kit (slightly used) to anyone who needs it, in hopes we can start the cascade effect. -WireX P.S. unless you are really strapped for cash, usually you pay shipping. I've sent two things to the usa already, at about 5 bucks a pop |
the idea is neat, but the website [edited by pHaestus]
Damn Joe always stirring shit up :) |
you are totally entiteled to your own oppinion.
For the record: Send a gameboy, games, camera, and a n64 dexdrive out Recieved nothing wanting, well, see the thread title |
come one guys, get back on topic. I only posted the link so you wouldn't think I was just trying to take your stuff. Btw, I still have the thermaltake memory cooling kit (slightly used), so if anyone wants it, pm me your address. Hopefully this will show that I am absolutely serious
|
See I think genmay.com is just a anagram for gaymen.com
[edit by pHaestus]ok I am leaving this one; that's pretty funny [/edit] |
Ok, I'll bite. I'll PM you my coordinates. I'll send you $5.
For those that haven't seen the movie, check it out! (warning, there's music on that page!) |
btw, ygpm, and the thermal tape for the bigger vid card heatsinks has already been used.
but the tape for the ram sticks are still untouched. |
ok guys, I sent bigben his ramsinks.
now, everyone needs to post stuff that they are willing to give away (at their own expence). Btw ben, I dontated the 5 to a charitable cause, because I couldn't withdraw it anyway. |
I've got four Sparc stations (circa 91) in my garage (under a healthy coat of sawdust), but I don't think anyone would be willing to pay the shipping cost. Maybe there's a museum curator that hangs out here?
FWIW, I did send a guy up in Canada an old quad Sparc system about a year ago along with the SCSI HDD (2 gig) and SCSI CDRom (Toshiba 6.7X) and behemoth 600 watt PSU. I charged him shipping costs of $36 and that box weighed in around 15 pounds. I did not ship the case because it was too bulky and too heavy. |
Is this a rackmount case?
|
are those psu's at or atx?
I could use a big atx ps like that |

|
so no monster 600 watt ps for me? hehe

you mean no one here has an extra heater core, I find that very hard to believe
|
ive got an old aluminum trannie cooler hanging in the garage.
|
fixittt, ygpm
|
the trannie cooler I have is an aluminum 4 pass type. I think its just like what you have already. It is only about 1 in thick and fits 2 120 mm fans on it.
|
mine only holds one 120, so I will keep you in mind, but for now I will keep looking for a heatercore.
|
FYI, I received the heatsinks yesterday. Nicely packaged!
Thank you WireX. As my PIF, when I complete my airtrap article and it's posted, I'll build one for someone, custom made;) (Shipping not included). |
glad it made it their ok, but how long did it take you to cut through like 8 layers of tape>?
hehe. That and the q3 gold box. Anyway, PIFing does work, so like I said, post anything you think you could give away. |
ok, I have to bump this. Just because I know that this community has alot to offer
|
Bump.
I'm getting to use the RAM sinks, and it reminded me about this thread. My article was never published, but I'm ready to start building a second revision of the same airtrap (smaller :D ). In the meantime, I'm PIF'ing out the old larger one! So here it is, my airtrap. This includes the built airtrap, your choice of 1/2 or 3/4 barbs (with adapters), the top cap and adapter, and heck, I'll even throw in the mounting flange, complete with gasket (but not the 1/2" bolts). $5.00 . (PayPal or cash!). It's packed and ready to ship, same day. Anyone? |
gj bigben, keep pif alive
|
ok I tried to remove posts with no relevance to the thread and even edited Joe's comments :O Hopefully I am still a moderator in the morning :)
I will dig through my room of crap and see if I have anything to contribute. |
Man, I've got enough parts around here it looks like a computer salvage yard. Making a list of items I'd part with would be a daunting task. If there were a thread or forum where people could post what they are looking for, it would be much easier. I've sent lots of small items to people- lian li fan guard, carbon fiber decal, acrylic tubes, leds.... some as far away as UK. I also traded a Ford Escort heater core for one of those small rads from an iceberg kit. I really perfer these types of transactions. It allows us to help each other out, and can't really get burned on a deal as we're giving the stuff away. If a forum is made for this idea, I'd be willing to help out in it.
peace. unloaded |
if there clear acrilic tubes id like some. if you still got them.
Plus if any of you have some pumps you dont want anymore. feel free to send them to me. PM me about it and ill PM you my address. |
I got a few different sizes of clear acrylic tubes and rods. What sizes are you needing? I've got tons of modding junk, the tubes were mostely used for lights, some are a bit bigger. If you are talking about making a res, they arent big enuff for that. Also you should edit your profile, I don't know how much it costs to ship items to Hell. 8P~

Hey, I need an acrylic tube, 1" O.D.!
Does anyone need any 3/4" OD, 5/8 ID polycarbonate tubing? I've still got ~4 feet of it. I'll cut it to your length. I've still got a nice "Hi-Performance" :D airtrap up for grabs... |
OK boys I have a deal for you. I need to get some sheet metal to make a shroud for a heatercore. Since it comes in a big roll, I will be willing to make someone else a heatercore shroud. You will have to give me the outside dimensions of the core and the #/size fans you want to use. Here are a couple of examples of my handiwork:
Chevette: http://www.procooling.com/~phaestus/chevettecore.jpg Caprice: http://www.procooling.com/~phaestus/shroudfolded.jpg Since I am in Canada, shipping of packages is an issue. To deal with this, I would suggest just leaving the shroud cut out but in one flat piece of metal. You can then bend it to spec using a ruler and either rivet or superglue the tabs down. Here is what I would send: http://www.procooling.com/~phaestus/shroudcutout.jpg I will probably only make 1 or 2 at this time, but if there is interest then I can try and do this periodically. |
