watercooling case sizes
 

ok, setting up a system slowly, trying to decide on a case...

i'm wanting to go with the lian-lis, merely due to aesthetics. i would like a smaller case for the main box, because i really don't need a buttload of space. buuut, running a relatively decent cooling system seems like it might be very tight in a pc-60.


also, i like this new case design, the pc-6070. it looks damn sweet, sounds like the pc-60 in design, and has sound dampening materials. it just looks so smooooooth. anyways. is it feasible, or should i plan on getting the full tower?

I at one point had a full water cooling sytem in a lian-li pc60 with three blocks(GPU, CPU, NB) I was able to leave the HD cage intact and had three optical disc drives two hard drives one floppy etc... I was using a Eheim 1250 a BIX. So it is possible to WC a lian-li pc60. But it was hard to get it all to fit right


That 6070 looks bad ass!

I worked with alot of coolermaster cases when i worked for Falcon Northwest. I thought they were way over priced. The lian li cases are of very similar quality and about half the price. For my money I go Lian-Li every time :)

not very many people carry this new case yet.. it runs $250 bones, but i think it's the same size as the pc-60, with same # of drives and all. i just think it looks sweet as hell... good for the stealth/minimalist look.

good to hear you can fit a crazy setup in the pc60. i'll probably have 3 cd drives, maybe 2, and 1 hard drive. i got a file server, so i don't need all the drives in it really. i might get one of the cds to be external (the yamaha crw-f1, it now comes in external usb2.0... don't know how well the 2.0 works @ 44x write tho).

I had an fk603 (large midtower) and water cooling it was horrible. I'd spend an hour setting up my gear and then 5 trying to fit and route it. In the end I never did get it right and bought a full tower. I wish I'd done it a year earlier and saved myself the trouble.

Do any of you know what the fan sizes are in the PC-6070? I've been eyeing that case for a couple weeks, and finally a few vendors have it but no internal pics or specs anywhere, even on Lian-Li's site.

If it has 120 mounts it would be PERFECT for H2O, and quiet.

You can always call 976-jigsaw. Use a standard CD as your template drill a hole somewhere within the circle put the jigsaw in place and cut away. Perfect 120mm hole for any case.

Yeah, it's a pretty nice case from the looks of it.

actually, reading the specs, it probably has the same internal configuration of the pc-60. i think it is physically about the same size, and where else would you put the internal hidden 5 hdd's? i'm guessing it doesn't, but i'm not going to let that stop me! it's sweet looking and supposedly quiet.. out with the hack-saw!

Hi, here in Brazil is very difficult to find big cases. Third world, i mean, so i had to cut 2 31\2 bays to fit the HC

you can try to make to make a T reservoir to filling and bleeding.

@ Marvin: don't worry about your English and I won't worry about my Spanish (which is a LOT worse than your English will ever be. Even when you're drunk). :P That is a very neat job you did there.

@ iroc409: You can comfortably put WC in a four-bay Lian-Li. I'm putting a WC dual Athlon system inside a Lian-Li PC-12 and it all fits fine. The res, by the way goes in the top, in front of the PSU and behind the HD or CD-Rom in the top bay.

Watercooling can be squeezed into smaller cases, though!

quick update, i found a pic of this case with the door open. there are NO fan slots/holes in the front. it appears that there's some ventage at the very top on the side of the case, the rest must all be done from behind. these guys say the case is suppsoed to be silent, as well.

but, the case is so smooth looking, and supposedly silent, it's going to have to be a project for me. may require some serious mods tho! but, hey, that's ok :)

The 6070 has 80mm fan mounts, 1 rear and two front, just like other Lian Lis. Darn. There's a review on a site somewhere today.

DANG IT!! I wanted to be the first one to watercool a Shuttle system!!! :mad: :mad:

At least mine will probably perform much better and look cooler.

True and not true, its Brazillian :D. The difference is in american english and british english. Both have a very different pronouciantions and vocabularies, but they're both... english.

I've seen a barebone /shuttle\ watercooled system. Pretty messy thou, the rad was on top of the case. Not even a BImicro will fit in there :D. Nevertheless it was efficient... given the situation.

are the vents under the case then? the pictures i've seen have no forward-facing vents. i guess that might explain why it has legs..

Terramex: study the picture above, and you'll find that is indeed a BI Micro in that Shuttle... :)

I stand corrected. The one i saw had a different rad, no way it could fit in there. I had the ideia that a BIM wouldnt fit too. That opens alot of possibilities :D.
