Laing pumps

Signal Hill, 7-13-04 for immediate release.

Swiftech Inc. and Laing Thermotech, Inc. are glad to announce the appointment of Swiftech as Laing's exclusive distributor for North America in the Computer Industry.

Under this agreement, Swiftech will use its private-label for retail distribution channels, and sell to OEM channels under Laing's trademark.

“I am very excited about partnering with Swiftech as they have shown great leadership in liquid cooling for computers. This is an emerging market with no limit in sight and Swiftech has both the knowledge and experience to meet future demands", stated Steve Rork, Laing Thermotech’s President.

"From our perspective, the primary reason for this move is Laing's superior technology. In effect, the new MCP650 pump features a 50,000 hours MTBF, which is equivalent to 5 years of trouble-free continuous use,” said Gabriel Rouchon, Swiftech's Chairman”.

Wow, 5 years 24/7 continuous use. I am sold. When will the MCP650 pump be available? Specs?

pHaestus 07-13-2004 08:22 PM

So this means no more D4s sold by DD eh? P-Q curve and power consumption on the 650 please :)

firtol88 07-13-2004 09:08 PM

All together strange.

Anemone 07-13-2004 09:30 PM

I'm still torn on whether the Laing is much noisier than the 600..

On a reread all is clear thanks

HammerSandwich 07-14-2004 09:11 PM

What? Nothing on Swiftech's site?

quicksilverXP 07-15-2004 12:04 AM

Anemone.... The Laing is MUCH louder than the MCP600.

Anemone 07-15-2004 05:37 AM

hmmm well rats :(

can't keep up, can't keep up

can you imagine (or scan through the site) and see the vast number of docs that need new photos and descriptions ?
may be some time to straighten out, Gabe is swamped !

Anemone
there is a 'muffled' version which is that which we will be selling
it is the same as the D4 selling now by DD (I believe)
the muffled version makes considerably less noise than the original D4
-> new comparisons are in order

Ahhh, would explain the disconnect between Cathar's experiences and the recently discussed D4 review.

Etacovda 07-15-2004 08:57 AM

The question i have is -
when its released, where can i get one from? no swiftech dealers in NZ that i know of; and most aussie stores are happy to mark up hugely before sending them 'over the ditch'...

I only indirectly became aware of this yesterday, and it is possibly incorrect
confirmation by someone 'in the know' would be appropriate

Senater_Cache 07-15-2004 09:14 AM

awesome news. I am assuming the price range will be on par or above the MCP600. Will the 600 see a price drop in the near future?? If so I would definitely wait and not get the aquaxtreme 50-z.

BillA 07-15-2004 09:20 AM

products will be announced to our distributors first, then when available to the public

do you have (read: will you share) dBA stats for the "standard" and "muffled" D4 in comparison with the MCP600?

hmmm

My best suggestion (the watercooling market in NZ is VERY small) would be www.ascent.co.nz; whilst their mark up is bigger than some places, you should have very little trouble dealing with them; I've never had any issues with them personally (but then, im a customer, not a manufacturer)

when we sell, for sure the technical data for those products
original D4 data is not likely as we do not have, nor have sold, that model

Etacovda
Thanks, Gabe will contact

I should add that Sidewinder will accept export orders

might be worth trying the UK as a source for pumps - our pump prices are somewhat better than Oz i believe, and shipping under 2kg isn't too bad...

Etacovda 07-15-2004 08:28 PM

Thanks Paul;

I'll have a look around
Any online stores that you'd recommend?

jlrii 07-17-2004 04:56 PM

Ungh...figures I've got 2 if the originals in brass. Will the "muffled motors" be available separatly? Will they fit the original pump body? Where the changes just acoustic dampening or did they modify the square wave that drives the pump? And last but not least, Why do I always buy stuff when it first comes out? LOL. BTW I still have one of the original MCP600's, running for months now....cross your fingers...

BillA 07-17-2004 05:01 PM

jlrii
all distributors have the replacement pump heads for the original units
contact them and get one

info as available

quicksilverXP 07-17-2004 06:04 PM

are you sure DD currently sells the "muffled" version. I recall the latest review for it that had an mpeg file of it on and the sound was similar to that of a 40mm fan on high. My old D4 sounded exactly the same. That would be horrible if Dangerden gave me an old unit.
