WOW, for the 3rd time this week my system is down!!!
 

Once again I am writing a post on my laptop because my desktop is down. :cry:
The good news: My Asus A7N8X-E deluxe and Athlon xp 2600+ barton came today.
The bad news: My new setup won't POST.
What I have tried:
1. Took mobo out of case and tried it on the box it came in.....didn't POST.
2. Tried my old Athlon XP 2100+ in the new mobo.....didn't POST.
3. Tried my new Athlon XP 2600+ in my old mobo.....Detected as AXP 1800+, system works!
4. Tried a fresh CMOS battery....system didn't POST
5. Tried a PCI graphics card..... sytem didn't POST
6. tried disconnecting everything but the graphics card ..... system doesn't POST

the entire time i've been trying all of these things, I have not gotten any audible error codes or voice error codes.
I talked to ASUS and was put on a callback list. at this point, i've been waiting for ASUS to call me back for nearly 3 hours. Has anyone else had this problem? Or, does anyone know how to fix it?

Maybe the RAM doesnt work with NF2 boards? Have seen some funkiness like that before

I just tried it with nothing but the proc, and I still don't get any beeps or voice errors. I've been trying to fix this since about 2 today, and I'm just starting to think that maybe...just maybe, this board is bad. The problem being that I have to goto school next week and I might not (don't) have time for an RMA

Have you tried the clear the CMOS RAM/password jumper? This will force all MB setings into their default mode. Just replacing the battery won't do it. Put it on and leave it on for a couple on minutes before removing it. I had a similar problem with a Soyo Dragon MB, AMD 2600+ and tried almost everything you tried. After a couple of hours and in desperation I tried this and it posted and booted into BIOS setup.

Just to be sure, if you don't leave the jumper on long enough, it may not clear the CMOS RAM. A fairly large capacitor (usually around 4.7 to 10 uF) is used to hold the charge long enough to allow the battery to be changed without losing the settings. The jumper probably goes through a fairly high value resistor to discharge the cap to eliminate arcs and sparks when you put the jumper on which means it will take a while.

I just said screw it, I'll call newegg in the afternoon and try for an RMA. Right now im running stable on my 2100 and old mobo.

If you get no beeps... your CMOS battry could be dead.

Remove everything and it shodul beep like mad at you. If it doesn't and the beeps sound "wrong" you could have a dead battery.

Boli, I already tried the battery, I replaced it with a fresh one and it didn't POST, I also tried the system with just he pocessor, and I didn't get any audible or vocal messages
