Revised DD 12V pump... improvement over Eheim 1250?
So I have an order with DD which hasn't left yet and I'm tempted to add the 12V D4 pump to the order to replace my Eheim 1250. I'm quite sure that the performance would be better (right?) but what I'm concerned is the noise level and the annoyingness (sp?). The Eheim produces a low-pitched hum which isn't audible over the 2 fans. From what I've read, the D4 is not a quiet pump... this true?
DangerDen's revised pump - performace curves DD now seems to have the D4s revised with lower sound level. That doesn't tell much for me... The bottom line: How quiet are the pumps and would it be worth to spend 75 $ for it to replace the 1250? |

new ones are muffled, so I take from what I've read, a little more noisy than the eheim- personally, it'd be worth it if you could trade the eheim away

Well, I just received an email that my DD order has left so no D4 this time...

I sent an E-mail to DD 8-6-04 asking for specifics about the new pumps noise levels, and if reducing the noise has affected any of the performance parameters. I will post their response when received.

I looked at the specs at Swiftecs site, and they claim 33 to 34 decibels at 2', which still can be pretty annoying. Looks like you still need to add a rheostat to "turn down the racket" when you'r not fraggin.
