MCP600 or Eheim1250
 

I'm building an external water cooling unit. I need to know which pump is better. This is going in with a :

TDX 64 Nozzle #5 1/2 Tubing
DTek Pro150 HeaterCore w/ Shroud and 120MM Fan
Dual Floppy Reservoir

Which pump you think I can give the best performance. I actually have two MCP600. Long story but I already have two. I just order an Eheim1250 from all the good stuff I hear about them. I'm only cooling the CPU. You think I can run the MCP600 in series? I'm not sure how to set that up. I'm trying to match the cascade performance. :)

Run the 2 600's in series and sell the 1250. To set up pumps in series, just plumb them both into the loop, doesnt matter where.

side by side.. which is better. MCP600 or 1250?

RES > PUMP1INLET > PUMP1OUTLET > RAD > CPU > PUMP2INLET > PUMP2OUTLET > RES ??

Will this help me get 1.5 - 2 GPM ?

Also, Wanna save me the trouble and sell me your cascade?? :rolleyes: lol. J/P What kind of cooling are you getting with your setup?

one mcp600 is better than 1250 when it comes to relatively higher restriction loops
anything more than plumbing through a single LRWW if I'm not wrong
two mcp600 ought to be pretty good

nikhsub is using three mcp650's in series, one mcp650 having head at zero flow of 3m and flow of 1080lph at zero head

For performance the MCP600, some early models had a problem that was fixed, I believe it was the pump head. I would personally bag the res, it does nothing for you except interrupt flow IMO. Your flow order is fine, you could go pump > pump > rest of loop if you wanted to. With these 2 in series you should see 1.5 GPM pretty easily. I get very good cooling with my setup :D

It is worth noting that nikhsub1 is indeed insane :D

What he means is in that any restrictive loop, the MCP600 will outperform the 1250, LRWW = Little River White Water.

Hes making a new block that comes out in sept/oct called 'Storm' which beats the cascade. You may want to wait for that, if you're really wanting high performance.

I thought that Storm is not an success. I havent read the long ass thread but I thought it was pretty much over.

You think I'm better off with a T-fitting ? I chose the res for easier filling.

You guys think I made a good choice by going with the TDX..? I was kinda torn against the Swiftech 6002. I saw that the TDX, with higher flow rates performed better.

You're thinking of the Cascade XXX which was an experiment. The storm is coming otu when i said.

If you're willing to throw pumping power at it, the TDX is a better choice than the swiftech; since you've got the pumping power, then no problem.

Actually the RBX(not TDX) has lower dT at flow rates at/above 2gpm compared to the 6002..according to here: http://www.procooling.com/html/pro_testing.php

If you check out the TDX nozzle review, the TDX beats the RBX with the right nozzle installed. Its kinda confusing that, makes you think the tdx is worse...
With nozzle 5, and enough pumping power (probably enough to destroy the block, lol) it comes inline with a cascade pretty closely.

I sure would like to see the RBX with nozzle 5 dT tho. it was only tested with #1 in that review

That's why I chose nozzle 5 for the TDX.. it seems to perform like the cascade at higher flow rates. I'm just afraid that the nozzle will clog.

DTEK is really pissing me off. I order like 4 days ago and still havent shipped. I called their number and won't even answer the phone or return any of my calls. I can't even cancel it because they wont return my calls or emails. I ordered my block from dangerden and I got it like yesterday. JESUS! don't ever buy from DTEK.

well. i got my stuff today. seems my external box is looking like crap so I decided to mount the heatercore on my desk and run the tubing in. The res, pump , block is in my case and the heatercore and the other pump is outside. So far I'm running pretty good. Going with MSI temps .. 36 idle .. 37-38 prime95 for 30 mins. I think its great so far. I'll try to get a digital camera and take some pics.
