Nuclear reactor case mod???
My friend had some great ideas for a case mod (I'm bad at visualising things ...)
one of them involves sticking a big red button on top of the case as the power button ... it's one of those with a door over it ... question is: Where can I buy one? |
also, anyone know where to get that label gun that punches out white letters on a black tape which is about 1/4" wide??? and what is the proper name of the thing???

thanks a lot, man ... the search for the red button continues ...

Are you looking for the military type switch with a cover? I know we've linked to it before.
Otherwise if it's just a big a** button, then it's just a big cover on top of a small switch, which you can make yourself. |
These are cool. http://www.12vp.com/Item_Coyote_Table_Page.htm They come with LED's in the top of the switch. May not be 100% what your looking for though.

Buttons
I havent found a "pushbutton" with a cover but here are a couple of links to some interesting types of "push" buttons
http://www.ab.com/industrialcontrols.../pbhome_lg.jpg http://www.geindustrial.com/products...es/DEA-259.pdf personally I can see an application for the emergency stop type! |
sorry guys, for not replying, but I found what I was looking for ...
the button is momentary ON, the actual mushroom head is 60mm in diameter ... here's the link: http://www.asi-interconnect.com/prod..._head/plastic/ the part number is: 8 LP2T B6164, they also have a metalic version which I don't think I want to get (I think black plastic would look better), the part for metalic version is: 8 LM2T B6164 As for the cover, I am looking for something similar to this: http://www.michaelselectric.com/shop...ail.asp?id=242 this is what it looks like when installed: http://www.michaelselectric.com/shop...ail.asp?id=243 the cover is 70USD which I don't think is worth that much money ... as for the military switches, I was thinking of getting 4 of them to control lights ... ASCII layout: Code:
this is the top of the case ... NOW ... here comes the tricky part ... this is where I need help of electrical engineers and such ... I want to have 3 4" cathodes on each side of my front panel underneath it and dremel "slits" of where lights will shine through ... I need/want a circuit that will slowly raise the voltage on the bottom lamps (it will look like a rising beam if you know what I mean), then as soon as the bottom ones light completely up, have the same done to the middle lamps, and then the third ... the bottom 2 on each side will be green and the top ones will be red ... sort of like a status "bar" ... and if possible to have a "timer" (can be on a PCB or anywhere, doesn't need to be easy adjustible), maybe also have a "buzzer" that will "buzz" 3 times when the lights are completely on ... (maybe stick a strobe light inside?) BTW, my case is Lian-Li PC75 ... |
another thing that I want to find are rheostat knobs that looks like valve handles (the kinda round red ones ...)
