And YET another closed system idea ... ok semi-closed

Ok here's the deal.

I'm building a bong cooler, but i found some interesting parts while cleaning up my realm the other day so i enhanced the idea with a partial recondensation of evaporated water. Here's the plan ...

The whole system will be encased in a steel case with internal sound isolation and acrylic side door. The case dimensions are 1x1x0.3m (sorry i'm european).
The motherboard and the rest will have it's own box-in-a-box (acryl) and will be slipped in on the ATX motherboard bed from the top so all the connectors will be on top.
The bong will be 15x15x80cm steel tube with acryl front-side. Air intake with 120mm silent fan form under the outer casing which will be lifted 5-7cm off the ground. Spunge bottom will reduce watterfall noiz and a net-block with 2x2mm net to maximize watter spread in the tube. The top of the bong will U-turn back into another tube 5x15x60 which will contain a copper maze cooled from outside with a 5x5cm peltier. The "condensation" tube wil be lead into a second watter reservoair(spelling?) so that the actual air exhaust will be on the far side of the second reservoair. The outer case exhaust will have another 120mm silent fan mounted on it. Peltier's copper heatsink (i'm thinking of using my old Zalman CNPS6000) will be cooled semi-passive with the intake of the two PSUs (1 fot the computer and the other for the fans, UV, ...).
So the main thing is to have a bong and to condensate the watter back into a different resevoair. A low watter level in the first reservoair will trigger (i found a watter radiator level sensor from my old car) a small pump to transfer watter from the second reservoair ... which should pretty much cooled be till then.

So the whole plan is to make a bong, keep it pretty much silent and have a nice view of what's going on on the inside ...

I've been over "tha plan" like a kazilion times ... but if anyone has any ideas ... say it now ... I'm finishing the outer case at the moment so i still have time to make adjustments ...

And throw some general pro/con stuff in my direction ... let me see what you think ...

you lost me... not hard to do...
can you make a diagram of all this...
it would be easier to follow...

I hope this helps a bit ... i have a shitty scanner so spare me the "why so shitty image" speach :D

If you would put a peltier on your cpu and cool that with a radiator and fans, it would be just as quiet, simpler, more effective, and less labor intensive both in terms of construction and maintenance. Or better yet, leave out the pelt altogether, but that is just my personal preference. The other problem that comes to mind is stuff growing in there. Sounds like you are going to build it anyway so please post a picture when you're done. Thanks.

Well it's not the simplicity that is the point here ... it's the look and feel while having nice performace ...

I think using destilled(spelling?!) water and air filters will keep the plantlife and stuff like that at the minimum, but we'll see as we go ...

C'mon ppl i need some helpful input

just anwser me three questions:
- is 15x15x80cm evap tower (that's aprox. 6x6x30") enough to chill a CPU(for now 1800), GPU, NB and disk or should i add a second evap tower for GPU, NB and disk.
- aprox. how dense should be the net block(2x2mm net), so it will have the greatest ratio between airflow and watter surface
- should i expand the "condensation" tower for greater airflow or will 5x15cm (2x6") handle the air comming from the evap tower

That's all i need to know for now.
The outer casing is finished ... will post a picture as soon as i finish the box-in-a-box part and the inner sound isolation.

This project will be rather slow, coz i have two credits on my back a the moment ... but i hope i'll finish it this year ...

PLEASE!!! at least the first question ...

1) Yes, assuming good spray pattern and airflow.

2)try for 20-30% of the internal volume (dry)

3)forget about the peltier based condensor, really, use the extra space for more water storage.

10x 4 da info Volenti ... i'm going for the one evap tower with 20-30% net density configuration now.

As for the condensation ... i dunno ... i know everyone's telling me i should forget about that, but that recondensation part was one of the main reasons i even started this project.
And the bottom water reservoair will hold aprox. 43l of watter (35l when water level is 2" under the top) ... i think that's like plenty water to go around with.
Tell you what ... that recondensation part is one of the easiest parts to make ... so i'll just remodel the configuration, so that if it turns out to be a waste of space, i'll just throw it out and use the space for something more useful, like backup water res. or something ... but for now, please bare with me on this one.

Recondenser... sounds neat! You could probably get away with a VERY VERY small pelt too. Go for it.
