Quick Eheim Choice...

greetings all, just choosing between a 1250 and a 1048 for the following system...

1/2" tubing
120mm BIX rad
maze 4 cpu block ( eventual upgrade to DD TDX)
eventual GPU block, probably DD again

i just need some opinions. i'm not terribly worried about noise, and i'd like to not have the massive 1250 in the bottom of may case if i can help it. essentially, would the 1048 be sufficient? thanks in advance....

the 1048; read the above thread as to why

Well, if the 1048, why not the swifty 6000 rather than the TDX?

AngryAlpaca 11-30-2004 08:30 PM

If you want the most powerful Eheim available that's smaller than the 1250, the 1048 is the obvious choice...

Actually, the 1060 is bigger than the 1260... but details, details...

Isn't 1260 and 1060 both the exact same pumps?

bobkoure 12-01-2004 06:43 AM

And I'm suggesting that if you go with the 1048 you pay attention to what that pump can do (particularly with a GPU block in the loop) when you pick a wb to upgrade to.
As I remember, the TDX was somewhat flow hungry and the swifty 6000 series was not.
If you're not in a hurry, the upcoming Laing DDC might be just what you're looking for. I don't have a good idea of how loud it is (should be at least moderately quiet) but you don't care about noise. The larger Laing (sold by both Swiftech and DD) is louder, has more flow, and is fairly small.

thanks for all the replies everyone. i eventually decided on the 1048. (after more reading, ... hehe) for the first 24 hours, it was making quite the racket. then suddenly, silence. it's been running non stop for the past week and so far so good. i just hope that it has much better reliability than the hydor. i hope that with a change in blocks and adding a GPU cooler that the 1048 still has what it takes. also, i was a fan of DD just because they were my first WB dealer and were very customer oriented. after researching some swiftech stuff, i think they they will provide my next WB, if i can find a store that has them in stock! thanks again everyone.
