Best Fan/Rad set up
I have just got my new Radiator today, and am going to be mounting iver the weekend. As far as I can see I have two options that will be the best in terms of performance to set up the way the fans pull or push air through the Raiator.
But which is the best? The case is a Lian Li PC70, so there are actually 2 fans puling in at the front, not one as you can only see in the drawing. As far as I have been told so far, the concensus seems to setup 2 with perhaps some shrouds also added? Setup 1. Air from outside is pushed through the rad in to the case, shrouds are used to elimnate the dead spot. The air is then ejected from the case via the case fans. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...jas/Setup2.jpg Setup 2. Air from inside the case is pulled throught the radiator. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...jas/Setup3.jpg Will be used with: G4/swiftech 6002 Silverpop Fusion HL Theromchill 120.3 MCP600 |
5 cents.
3. (rad/fan as (2)) + loose the 3 "extra" fans. Negative pressure-> forces air into case. Less noise.

fans: Pull>>push
always shroud |
Personally I would use setup 1 with the bottom fan set to exhaust also.

Best I guess would be to put the radiator at the top, then the shroud, then the fans pulling through under the shroud. Overall I don't think the difference would be anything significant whichever way you did it. The bulk of the issue is simply getting sufficient cool air-flow through the radiator, and out the somewhat restrictive case outlets again. |
