Eheim compact 1000 VS. Eheim 1250

Am I missing something?:

Eheim 1250
---------------
317 Gph
6ft 7" head
Dimensions: 7.1" x 3.8" x 4.7"
Price: $60

Eheim compact 1000
--------------------------
265 Gph
6ft 6" head
Dimensions: 3.0" x 2.1" x 3.7"
Not inline but can be easily converted
Price: $25

Why aren't they more popular?
I am planning on watercooling my main rig in order to make it quieter - the noisiest fans are the CPU and GPU, plus maybe i'll be able to get a higher overclock. I purchased a Eheim compact 600 for another system that I am currently building (I needed a very small pump, it's a HTPC with very little room inside), and the 1000 caught my eye. Am I missing something or is it a smaller and cheaper alternative to the 1250?

The only problems with the pumps modded to inline is that you can't replace anything when they're all glued up, but I've never had to replace anything on a modded eheim compact.

And my experience shows that they perform much better when modded to inline, so expect them to supersede the specs listed above.

How is the noise compared the the 1250s?

PurpleDiamond 01-13-2005 05:32 PM

I haven't seen any numbers and I haven't heard a 1250 but the 600 is very quiet. Maybe there is more info on Eheim's european website.

my 1250 is whisper silent tbhwu. i have to touch it to make sure its running.

someones gotta have both to compare, even a comparison to some other well know pumps would be helpful. Eheim has a very high quality but modding them for inline worries me about the noise.

1250s are very quiet as long as you put them on something to absorb vibrations.

A touch off topic, but how many years of continuous use warrants replacement of an eheim's moving parts?

Butcher 01-15-2005 09:16 AM

I don't know, the manufacturer covers it for 2 years though.

my 1250 is sitting directly on wood not screwed down and its silent..
