Question for Nexxo
 

Since my search for Nexxo and Fluorinert only came up with 2 threads...I wondered what your overall experience has been running Fluorinert in your system? (for those of us interested)

I've not had much experience with it yet-- just the Athlon MPs before the mobo konked out during BIOS re-flashing. :cry:

However in that time I found it worked very well. The processors stayed chilled and there was absolutely no residue in the tubes or discolouration of the blocks. The pump had no trouble with it either. It has a very low surface tension so it makes good contact with the blocks and rad.

Some guy on Wizard Designs Forums has been using it for a while on his dual Xeon system and he, too, swears by it, finding it very efficient at cooling without having to worry about corrosion or algae growth.

Since it is roughly the same price as FluidXP, I think it is worth the expense --especially as a potential leak won't fry your expensive hardware. When it spills, it evaporates harmessly leaving no redisue whatsoever so you wouldn't even need to clean your components.

Thanks for the heads up. The algae growth/corrosion concerns combined with the leak insurance make the price seem a little more tolerable.

If you are using flourinert, why not just do immersion cooling?

Because it's impractical. Try to fit a watertight case around a moterhboard and still access its rear ports!

That, and it would require many more litres, which to most would be bank breaking.

Immersion cooling is silly and impractical. You get better performance with conventional watercooling at a fraction of the effort.

Even with immersion cooling you'd still need to find some way of transferring the thermal energy into the air around your case to dissipate it wouldn't you? Thus you'd still need some form of rad and fans etc.. :cool:
