how cold would the cold side of a 4x4x3mm, .8Amp, .9volt, .4watt, Delta T Max of 73c TEC with a good sized (maybe heatpiped do to clearance) active heatsink get?

if i understand delta t correctly, if i cooled the hot side to 30c it would put the cold side to -43c. but is that correct?

Please dont spam and ask questions i dont need to answer....

The -43 degrees is only possible with 0 watt load which is not possible. You should try reading something about peltiers, its quite intressting if you know whats going on and how to calculate the delta theta(temperature difference between the hot and cold side) Try reading some posts here or use google :D
Any way with that mini tec you couldnt cool anything on your pc or I guess anywere else.... :shrug:

Nope wouldnt be possible either, you would still have a load because of the air around it! You would heat the LED up till it explodes, which is also kind of fun :D

well the chip isnt huge...just a voltage regulator. w/ a hs, how cold do you suppose i could get it? the chip prolly has like 10-20 watt load tops...not alot

4 or .4 watts? Either way, no you can't cool a 10w chip with it.

Try getting a at least a 30-40watt pelt if you want ambient temps, if you want subzero temps go with a 60-80 watt pelt! But i guess a 40 watt pelt will be enough for you, try searching one on egay

For a rough guess try this. If you have a 10w 70c tec and you want to cool a chip that puts out 5 watts the tec will cool it about 35c. A 10w heat load would not get cooled at all. Thats the tradeoff, direct relationship between watts of heatload and how much it cools. It gets a lot more complex but for starters it will give you something to start from.
