CSP pump concern
 

Just for peace of mind, are there any positive experiences regarding CSP750 MkII pumps?

I’ve owned a couple for a while, and am finally getting around to installing them (parallel), but am very nervous about doing so. :shrug:

I understand that they are fundamentally floored. But there must be some people out there who have had good experiences?

Out of interest, why run the pumps parallel?

Just trying to learn, not criticising, but the impression I get from other threads is running two pumps in series and the whole WC loop in series generally affords better performance.

as far as i recal that pump has "issues" running in series but then again all i ever see about that pump is issues

Yes, they should never run in a series, and thats the main reason why I'm running parallel.

A positive experience with CSP Mk II pumps... hmm let's see... no, can't think of it. I had two of those (actually still have 'em only sitting in a box) running in 2 separate loops and they were humming happily for a while (about a month or so) and than started to get very, very noisy. It's gotten to the point where I simply took 'em out and plumbed in my old L35 to carry me over 'til my DDC's arrived. I never experienced any leaks or had corrosion issues. I checked the insides when I took the pumps out and they appeared to be clean. Yet they sounded like tey were just about to die. Didn't want to wait and see if that will happen and how soon.
Now I'm not an engineer or have any technical background, so with that being said, to the best of my understanding, the issue about running these pumps in series relates to the shaft seal that may cause a leak due to increased pressure. So it's a definite no-no.

hmm, ok, so no good news yet? Well one can only hope I guess.

Can anyone believe they're still freaking selling these things?

Mine worked fine for 4 months. I replaced it with the DDC in hopes of more performance. It appears in my situation (very small loop) the heat generated by the DDC balanced out the higher head. Basically the performance was exactly the same with additional noise as the DDC makes a slight hum and the CSP mark II was silent when place ontop of a rag.

I'm sure results will vary.

Good point, I guess it's always going to be a bit hit and miss with these things.

My plan is to install them, hope for the best, and hopefully all will be fine untill the Mag drive version comes.

I don't know how RVWinkle mounts his DDC but I have hard time believing that DDC was louder than CSP even when 'put on a rag'. What's wrong with the simple piece of foam mind you. :)

well bill. I give up, your right. its 6am and Im not supose to be up yet, I got rudely awaken becuase my computer was making weird noises. I come down and my pump is probably 150 degrees++ and so is my computer,

-EDIT- I must note its the origional pump, back when d-tek was first getting them, I preordered it, not MKII
so sometime or another I get to decide weather I got dead parts becides the pump.

//edit: I am aware that the MTBF only applied to the motor and not to the pump itself. I thought that was pretty misleading then and I still do now.

this product should serve as an object lesson for fanboys of any stripe
teething problems are characteristic of new products,
and the exact reason why a known product is preferable - at least until the new product is proven

there were distressing claims to 'professionalism' through the hyping of that product, all serving to deflect analysis of that product's features (i.e. I'm such and such, and I say its ok)
and that MTBF charade was deplorable
"hipshot" would be a better name, but we are ignoring that he was the winner

As for Hookers:

A whore should be judged by the same criteria as other professionals offering services for pay -- such as dentists, lawyers, hairdressers, physicians, plumbers, etc. Is she professionally competent? Does she give good measure? Is she honest with her clients?
It is possible that the percentage of honest and competent whores is higher than that of plumbers and much higher than that of lawyers. And enormously higher than that of professors.

Hookers can be productive too.

I managed an 'escort' business for a stint and cannot identify a more worthless group

it is their right I suppose
but that you would ascribe more honesty and competence to such than to professors suggests that you are still in school (or need to return)
