Arctic Silver variations?
 
I've still got a stockpile of Arctic Silver 2 that I'm working through. I'm putting in new blocks now, and I wonder if it's worth it to move up to 5, ceramique, etc.

I know they have some published numbers on their site, but if I read it correctly, AS2 actually has a lower C/W number than AS5. I'm guessing that's not right. Given that the block/die junction is probably the most important part in a cooling system, do these different iterations of transfer compounds make a big difference? Most folks would probably never know for sure, but I'm guessing some of you procoolers have tested the same system with different pastes.

Honestly you might see 1-2C difference between AS2 and AS5, but unless you're pushing for the absolute last percent performance I don't see it as really being significant.

Eh. I like Nanotherm PCM+ personally. Prior to this, I used Ceramique.

SX-25 is a prototype grease for testing.

The pressure I used is rather approximate. I used force sensitive resistors to measure the force applied by the four mounting springs I use when they are compressed a certain amount. I did all the tests with the springs compressed this same amount. This amounts to approximately 20kg of pressure on 1.44cm^2. About 13.9kgf/cm^2.
