Enermax PSU recovery

Feeling a bit pleased with myself right now.
My 4 year old Enermax 550W powersupply died today.

Pulled out the 4700uF 5v and 3.3v line electrolytics and replaced them with some I had lying about.

Back to life better than ever. Rock solid 5.05v, previously it had been a fluctuating under load between 4.6V and 5.2v. The hissing and crackling from my speakers which has been growing worse lately is gone and random cd ejection has stopped.

Yippee yai yay.

Nice!

Was the cap leaking? How'd you figure it needed replacing?

They were leaking, but look like they had been for some time so I wasn't certain. Also the way the PSU was behaving, trying to start but failing under load, a slow pulsing of the fan and measured 5v line, I figured it had to be a cap.
