DDC/MCP 350 mod concern?

Quoted below is what I posted on Bit-tech....

Quote:

MCP350 mod:
I used a 1/2" drill bit (Drill-press and Vice recomended!) be careful!
It is difficult using the bit free-hand It cleaned up real nice with a Dremel.

Most pictures I've seen of the mod, there's aprox. 1-2mm left on the end
of the 1/2" barb to emulate the orig 1/4" one on the underside of pump cover.

From what I've surmised.. the original 1/4" flange protrudes into the center
impellor intake. The 1/2" one to me would hit the top of the covered impellor.
I've cut the 1/2" barb to be flush with the underside of the pump cover.
Time or posts will tell if it's a concern.

Good-Luck with the mod!

P.S. After you drill the opening for the barb, re-fit the pump cover and check the clearance from the cover to impellor. It'll be easy to see, with the new bore-hole!
Between the pump cover and impellor top was very minimal space, looked to be aprox. 2mm. A barb that protrudes too deep is bad.
Anyone that's done the mod... input? opinions? did you check? :)

I totally forgot to take pics... doh... did it @ 3-4am oi.

thanx.
