Anyone use an electric radiator fan?

I keep seeing these electric radiator fans for cars and was wondering if anyone ever tried one? Are they really loud? The 12" models seem to do about 1400 cfm and the 16" up to 2800 cfm. They are mostly 12V but pull some amps so a seperate power supply would probably be needed. I was thinking about using one with a Honda radiator (copper, Core size 13 3/4" x 13 15/16" x 1.25"). Most of the brands I see are Flex-A-Lite, FAL, SPAL. Any suggestions?

They are very loud. Way over kill on CFM. Your not cooling a car engine putting off 1000's of watts, just a computer putting off a 100-200 or so.

Perhaps I could run it with lower volts and make it slightly slower and more quite. Most fans I've tried this with still worked pretty good. Even if I cut the CFM by half or 2/3 it would still be better than any muffin fan ever could. And they're cheap! Anyone ever run them at lower voltage/power? Results?

Jegs has 9" fans that run fine at 5v a little whoosh and some mild ball bearing clicking. Not obnoxious. Plent of air over a wide area.
