PolarFLO Mods for Liang D4 pumps
Did anyone know about this?
http://www.polarflo.com/index.asp?Pa...ProdID=71&HS=1 It's a $60 mod for the D4. I'm a bit leary of the fact that it's an aluminum part (I'd much rather keep all my metal parts made of copper or brass), but it makes the pump much more flexible in terms of mounting. |
HOw does that mod make the pump easier to mount? It sure makes it easier for corrosion.

http://www.swiftnets.com/assets/imag...650/MCP650.gif The original allows you to turn the pump around, flip that mounting plate so the screws are infront instead of under the pump if you want, or just take it off and make your own. If you like how it looks I guess do whatever floats your boat. But for me that thing is just big, ugly, and aluminum. Oh yeah and more money. I'd get sold out on four fronts, YAY! |
The exploded view makes it look like the outlet body is attached to the pump by a 4-bolt flange. This lets you rotate the outlet body in the direction you want , giving you more options for mounting, and there doesn't appear to be any fabrication involved. You can apparently get a variety of fittings as well (something the original pump configuration doesn't allow.
My only problem with the D4 pump (in it's original configuration) is that the outlet/inlet positions need to be swapped for MY particular application (I really didn't want to have to fabricate an alternative bracket solution to be totally honest). This looks like a viable method for modding the pump more to my needs. I would buy it in half a heartbeat if it was made of brass or copper, since the rest of the metals in my cooling system are one of these two metals. Lastly, since so many people here are into flashy case mods, I figured the prospect of having a blue, black, or red anodized (or even chrome ) pump would add to their desire for "bling". Even better, I was hoping to see if someone could make the same thing for me out of copper. |

Nothing wrong with bling as long as it performs, polarflo in my opinion is more about the bling than function or performance. For the cost of that part u could almost buy another d4 and run them in series. Its a waste of money if u ask me. |
Aside from the material chosen for the part, it is more useful simply because the fittings can be changed out.
Could someone here duplicate the part in copper or brass (or even acrylic)? |
Had em on our site for sale for a while - not exactly selling well unfortunately.
They do look stunning in the flesh, as does most polarFLO gear... aimed truly at those wanting looks more than anything else. With regards duplication... tis another job for the mighty delrin I reckon... |
