Multiple Power Supplies
anyone ever tried running 3 atx psu's 5 volt rails in series ? i want to get about 45 amps at 15 volts. i know i need to tie the power on wires to ground, but i dont know where or if i need a dummy load for the psu to funtion. People have told me if im using only the 12 rail i need a load on the 5.... so if i only use the 5..... does the 12 need a load also?

If you run 3 5V supplies in series your voltage will be 15V but your amperage will not increase. IF you run them in parallel your amperage will increase but your voltage will still be 5V.

hmm
yeah.... ima use psu's that are rated 45 amps at 5 volts. if it works, i will run 3 in parallel with another 3 later. i think 90 amps should be over what i need. im just wondering if computer power supplies will like this. switching power supplies are VERY complicated and might not like working together for some strange reason.
