Swiftech MCW5002A vs MCW6002A
 

Here's my problem and i've been searching all over the forum to no avail. I have in my posesion a mcw5000A and a MCW6000A (yes i know that the title says the 2A). My question is acording to the graph the 6000 is obviously a better producer, but if my thinking is correct the tests were done with the 5000 with the original 3/8OD fittings. If that's correct how do these 2 block compare if the 5000 uses 1/2 id barbs (basicly making it a 5002A)? The reviewer in the front used the 3/8th version for the review comparing it against 1/2" ID blocks, therefore it's not a very comparitive test.

Furthermore if my assumption is correct and the quick connect fittings were used that means that it's 3/8" OD pipe instead of ID making it even worste of a comparison. Can anyone test them on a 1/2 id loop and compare?

meaning the 5000 is 3/8 ID and 1/2 OD

and the 5002 with the barb 1/2 ID

Ok, so how is that different than the 6000A?

There is a review of both the 6000A and the 6002A there. The 6000A has 3/8"ID as did the 5000-A test and the 6000A still beat it out. So I am not sure what your missing?

After re-reading your original post I see you want to know how the 5000A will perform with 1/2ID tubing.... Won't be better than the 6000/2A. Would be a good test though.

yeah that's what i'm wondering i have the 5000 in my possesion right now and with just changing it from quick conencts to barbs i can go 1/2 inch, i also ahve a 6000a and can get a 6002 relatively cheap. it's a dilema and the test results point towards the 6002 but there's no comparison to the 5002

Changing the 5000 to quick connects won't make it a 5002 as the 5002 also had a lower "deck height" so more of the flow passed through the square pins rather than over the tops of them.
That said, the push-in adapters (we're talking about John Guest push-fit adapters here, right) won't get you that terribly close to 1/2" ID - if you care about ID you might use some lengths of copper "thinwall" tubing in 1/2" OD.
BUT... the 6000 (3/8") slightly outperforms the 6002 (1/2") - so it's not at all clear to me that it's worth bothering with large-ID-as-possible adapters.
