New asetek Pump
this is a pretty cool pump if it does all it can do well
WaterChill 12V pump system with integrated reservoir and USB/Software Control Panel USB control.. rpm monitoring as well as speed control? sounds prety slick was wondering how well it performed |
How much $$ though....

You would see between € 59.00 & € 77.50 |
Thing is: how much of a substancial leap forward is it?
So far only the Apple G5 had such monitoring features associated wit the pump, or else you had to buy some extra equipment, and that was/is costly. In terms of euro values, the price asked for this hardware is a par with the Laing DDC. On the other hand it's a Hydor pump and no MTBF... |

Far better to just say "this is the best pump you can get, trust us". |
I just guess someone will have to test it...

pump-wise it looks to be exactly like their SL35 but w/ added electronics. love the monitoring, but quite frankly, i don't think i need it that badly.
|
Personally I think it is an L25, but we are splitting hairs here. The monitoring features would be great, but I'm not sure that they would warrent the price. The c-systems pump supports RPM monitoring, right? If so hooking one of those up to a fan header or T-Balancer would provide the same features. Revolutionary.... hell no. Just another product for the market. If it was introduced two years ago it might have stirred some more leaves.
|
I like the bullet point feature "Street respect." That's certainly something my MCRES-1000 is missing, Swiftech gear won't get you any props in da hood. Now I can finally wash my arm with the rub on "Mom" tatoo...
I like the concept but I don't like the software and pump, perhaps I should just get a colored tupperware container and WC like the old school playaz. |
I think it should be mentioned that this is a product designed with their customer base in mind and except for the price I think that they are dead on with this pump.

...BTW that last post was a j/k. A mutual friend told me it may have been misinterpreted. ;) |
Some specs by asetek:
12V DC Standard Pump & Reservoir unit. Power consumption: 7W Qmax: 900 l/hm Hmax: 150 cm http://www.asetek.com/filarkiv/Produ...V/Impeller.jpghttp://www.asetek.com/filarkiv/Produ...CShielding.jpg It seems to me like a miracle. It is a 2 pole stator with aquarium regular impeller. They claim to get 15 L/min (900 L/h) with 7 W at such motor design... ... i can not believe on that specs... http://www.asetek.com/default.asp?sh...on=1&menuID=-1 |
And the Xtremed version claims:
Qmax: 1020 l/hm Hmax: 240 cm Hopefully someoen will get these out to test. Asetek normally send kits out for review so I guess we'll see some reults sooner or later. |

First, why would you want to add speedcontrol to L20/L25 that are underpowered pumps and already quiet. If the pump was l30/l35 this would make sense to me but 225 GPH and 4 ft of head is too weak.
I think Astek bought a bunch of L20/L25 and they don't know how to move them. The res, gizmo's, and a new shell are probably to hide whats under the hood, L25/L20 pump and to fool people into buying those pumps. http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewIt...roduct=HD12202 Impeller is same design as l20/l25 and specs are about the same. $130 is too much money for a underperforming pump with a few monitoring add-ons. VFD is about $40-50 anyways and that is where most of the cost are going to. http://www.frozencpu.com/ex-pmp-36.html $60 VFD astek unit. I rather save my $130, buy a storm block and add another decent pump with that money. EDIT: Ow i forgot it has two fan speed controllers aswell. Something H20 users probably have to many off. :dome: |
