Noob looking for advice
Hello all.
Was told that this is the place where the best of the best know things about water cooling so I thought I'd ask my question(s) here :D I'll be setting up a WC system soon and have gathered the following parts: TDX CPU block BIX rad (wanted a heatercore but it's too big to fit internally where I want it) MCP650 pump 1/2" ID tubing 4" criticool res Now I also have a BIM rad and want to get a Silverprop Cyclone Fusion HL GPU block and enter it in the same loop, which I was thinking of....pump>BIX>CPU>BIM>GPU>res>pump Would that be a decent route? Any other suggestions are welcomed :D |

I've heard conflicting comments on order of components.
Some say res should be before pump with rad before any block. Also, with the silverprop having a brass top and copper bottom, is there a possibility of galvanic corrosion? |

The rad before the block thing is wrong. If you actually measure the temp difference between inlet and outlet of anything, even the waterblock or rad, its less than 0.1c. Water doesnt raise a huge amount in temp after it leaves the block then drops a huge amount in temp after it leaves the rad. As for the res before the pump its a good idea. It helps to make sure the majority of air is bleed from the line before it hits the inlet. Its good to have as little restriction as possible on the inlet. Having the res before the inlet could give you the option to have a large ID tube between the res and pump inlet. But again it doesnt really matter. Ive seen T lines in tons of places. Doesnt matter as long as its easy to route and easy to fill. |
Does that go the same for the pump? People have said it warms up the coolant a bit as it exits. Or is it too negligable that it doesn't matter?

I'll be using HydrX coolant. |
Copper and Brass have no issues with corrosion.

And all this stuff has been answered before. Many times.

Definately don't put the res in any "high pressure" part of the loop (eg; between pump outlet and block inlet).
Otherwise, plumb it according to ease of installation and simplicity and elegance. Linky: http://www.overclockers.com.au/wiki/...ithin_the_loop |
