Custom radiator (cylinder) with radial fan on top?
2 Attachment(s)
Hello!
I am building my first watercooled rig, and have got an idea for an external radiator: (see pic) The idea is to use a tube with diameter: 15+ cm (that is the diameter of my radial fan). As for the radiator-part of the thing - I really don't know what will be most effective (also have in mind noise/performance of the radial fan). My idea is to use two thin sheets of copper and solder them together, and have the water running in between. Maybe 10-20 of those would be enough? I am thinking of copper, but not sure. Would that be very expensive? How high will the radiator/tube have to be? The cost of all this? Currently, this is my hw: Athlon XP 2000+, GF4Ti4400 and a MSIKT3Ultra2-BR (NB). |

Its an idea that has been discussed before. A modified version of this concept is being used by Zalman with there latest HSF, the CNPS9500. They, obviously, are using an axial fan. Your suggestion would not be very efficient. Try to follow their design, with one end being sealed. JD should have a little more input on this, as he originally suggested the design. |
