HE 120.2 plus PA120 or Bix120 - Best Fans?
 

I am looking at 3 of these possibly: http://www.dangerdenstore.com/produc...&cat=37&page=1

Or am open to suggestions to something else.

I assume all will be in Pull configuration unless someone has any better ideas.


Also...Typgon or Clearflex 1/2" Any thoughts on that one?

If you care about noise, get Yate Loon D12-SLs.

Yate Loons are much quieter. 38cm thick fans probably aren't needed on your PA160 since it is loose enough to allow air through easily.

I cannot speak well to Tygon vs. Clearflex. I just use clear cheapo tubing from Home Depot and change it once in a while. I never re-use it since it stretches.

Actually the PA160 is out of stock so I need to go with a 120 of some other type.

Is the PA120 actually worth it over the BIX120?

Also, now I am worried that the pump won't be able to handle this system.

Maybe get another one into the loop?

Radiators like Thermochill HE series and Black Ice Xtreme - aren't their fin design so air-restrictive that a fan on each side is a big advantage?
A 38mm thick fan running above 2100RPM should be able to blow/suck air through, but what with the quieter fans like 25mm thick 120mm fans running less than 1700RPM?. I know it depends on the fan, but in general - are a fan on each side a good improvement over 1 when using "low noise" fans on air restrictive radiators like BIX and Thermochill HE?

I don't think I will be need a fan on each side. I usualy prefer a nice shroud and a pull configuration.


Is there any difference between the BIX and PA120 as far as flow rate?

I don't have any technical info to back this up but they will perform pretty close to each other. The BIX outperforms the PA at higher CFM, the PA beats the BIX at lower CFM and using more silent fans.

The main difference is BIX is more performance driven. You will need a powerful fan with high CFM but will get a ton of noise. The PA are more silent driven can use less powerful fans and run at lower speeds.

BTW the pa120.2 outperforms the pa160

Yeah someone suggested in another forum that getting rid of my HE120.2 and replacing it with the PA120.2 would be enough for my system without the extra 120mm Rad.

I am not sure that this is true so I am still stuck on this dual rad situation.

Define "enough".

The dual rad will do the job. A triple rad will do it better. More airflow both will do it better...

Radiators can dissipate kilowatts. The radiator isn't the defining factor. Your own defined limits are the factor.

So, what are your defined limits? Target temps? Target noise?

Noise is not the big issue here.

"Enough" for me is keeping the CPU (Opteron175 which runs at 110W stock, so probably more like 130W-140W with O/C) below 50C under heavy overclock and load as well as keeping the GPUs around 50C or less under heavy overclock and load.

Basically I am looking to keep things relatively cool while not losing overclocking potential due to being heat limited.

So then, is the dual rad still enough or should I add in the second 120mm rad.

Again, I do not think I have room for a triple the way my case is laid out but I will have to measure.

I assume you suggested the triple rad because that is best scenario?

Buy a new case. Get a full tower.

No need for a new case. I am actually just going to get teh PA120.3. **** it!
