Pretty full on marketing speak, I guess someone will fall for it.
I am particularly impressed with the USB chiller. It'll probably do an admirable job of keeping a prechilled beverage at ambient temperature.

Damn... I always thought that a beverage chiller would be a decent idea. USB powered? I never would have done that. What will that TEC pull? 15w? I forget what the USB spec is, but it's not much.

There is still a rad. They are just calling it a "heat exchanger". Sure, it's not a rad as we typically know it, but it still serves the same purpose.

$400!!!! Are they out of their F***ing minds! I'd buy a POS for $100 but never more.

Granted I shouldn't call it a POS, yet, but anyone who claims to have revolutionized watercooling by eliminating a radiator and adding TECs has to be a few cards short of a full deck.

0.62W/sq. mm @ 100W makes a 1/2" (exactly) square die.

Good that they mention it, might add some credence. Who/what is the "Independent Laboratory" I wonder?

I notice that the System noise levels and C/W numbers are under different conditions and I wish I could understand how the noise output (26dBA) could be measured lower than background (28dB)

Although of course I am not a sound engineer. It is probably 26dB above ambient of 28dB (dBA? is that what this means sound guys?)

When we are talking about dB, it is the log of a ratio between sound intensity and the threshold of human hearing.

I(dB)=10*log(I/I(0))

Where I(0) is usually 10^-12 w/m^2

dB(A) is a weighing of sound measurements, the most comon in fact, where sounds around 3k-4kHz are measured at around the actual sound level. Sounds at frequencies outside of this area however are measured at values way below the actual.
The dB(A) weighing does not follow the perceived loudness of the human hearing, and does therefore not reflect perceived loudness of a system. However almost all values you'll see on computer components will be measured using the dB(A) weighing.

That being said, their values still puzzle me. As does almost all sound level values for computer components, don't get me started on thermaltake. This one is just alot more blatantly off than most.

It just occured to me that these are the guys that made the first liquid cooling systems for Voodoo PC. Anyone remember them? This one is almost identical. I remember reading about it in CPU magazine about two years ago..... Voodoo had rights to the design, but they had decided to allow CoolIT to manufacture it for the public. They said that the target price was $150 and it would cool both the CPU and GPU.

Glad to see they have delivered....:rolleyes:

Anyone else curious about the power consumption? If I remember, when they were used in the Voodoo, the sucker required a dedicated 12V line (that was about 2yrs back when PSUs with dual 12v rails were just coming out). The PSU that Voodoo used was a 600 W (ish) Enermax with each 12v line good for ~120w.



Perhaps their stated noise level is an honest mistake? Or, perhaps they are just hoping that the average Joe won't notice?...:nono: :nono:

my objection is that I have 'worked' as an independent, for Swiftech, and now for CoolingWorks
same work, same equip, same old sob doing the testing; why is a part of that work 'no good' because Cathar or Bruce cannot accept my independence ?

Ok, I guess I didn't connect the dots. I had not realized anyone was discrediting you here. Thought it was the test bench(s) being used that were under the scope not who ran the benches. I didn't read most of the arguments though. :hammer:
