SOS SOS!! Did my Laing DDC Pump just failed out of the blue?? ARRRHH! Please save me!
I finished my watercooling setup and it has been running fine for two weeks without a hitch.
The loop consists of: AMD X2 4800 (using nexxos XP) ATI X1800XT ( using the alphacool VGA cooler) 2 SCSI drives (Silentstar Dual) The radiator is the Mora 2 Pro The loop is powered by 2 Laing DDC pumps and usually only one pump is on and the second one only activates if the main pump fails. The coolant used is the Danger Den MCT-5 The two pumps are monitored by the T-balancer which warms me of pump failure. Yesterday, I decided to power down the PC to tidy up some cables and when I turn it back on, the alarm went on indicating the main pump is not working. I tried to shake and rattle the pump and it still wouldn't turn on.... I connected the pump onto a separate PSU and it also wouldn't turn on :( How can it just fail out of the blue?? What is going on? Please help me :( |

If you connected it to another PSU and it still didnt load up i would have to say that its dead. Maybe you should be looking into warranty on this device now?

So you had your pump pumping through another pump that was inactive?
Let me ask you this... why not run both pumps simultaneously and reap the benefits, such that when one pump fails, the other is already running ;) as far as your problenm goes, check for corrosion in your pump, and I am only saying this because I dont know about the rad you listed, nor the GPUblock. |

he was likely running them in parallel

where does it say there its in series.....

Re: SOS SOS!! Did my Laing DDC Pump just failed out of the blue?? ARRRHH! Please save me!
Centrifugal pumps have nothing blocking flow for when not powered if in series.
If in parallel and one not operational, a short circuit will occur unless very low resistance items in loop, and even then "some" of the flow will go the short way home. |

i see what you were saying Etacovda. I didnt realize when I responded there, it was late and drunken lol. But yes, even in Parallel where resistance by the static impeller is minimal, running them both at once, without any switching / analyser device for failure is a better insurance policy, am I wrong?

Running them inline simultaneously is the best insurance.

Check this thread out: :) It will help you in getting the first generation (older) pump replaced. :)
http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=12543 If your retailer was either Swiftech or Danger Den, you will have to RMA with them. Else, if your pump was gotten by another means, contact Laing North America at: Mike Solso Industrial Division Manager Laing Thermotech, Inc. 830 Bay Blvd., Suite 101 Chula Vista, CA 91911 Direct Ph: (619) 591-2460 Direct Fax: (619) 591-2461 http://www.lainginc.com If you call, they are in the Pacific time zone. |

So you're running the Alphacool VGA cooler as well...
How does it perform? |
