NOOB: Snap Server 2200

Hi all !

I am a noob in the Snap Server area so please bear with me. I am rather desperate at the moment. Ok here it goes:

I recently aquired 2 snap server 2200 with 160GB each (2x80GB HDD) from Ebay.
They power on successfully, and shut down correctly, as far as i can tell anyway.
Now the problem is, even after resetting them to factory defaults (followed the procedure in the Admin Guide and it seemed to work as intended) i am unable to find any of the servers with the Snap Assist tool. I tried 3 different versions of it, no luck. I even tried to set up my router as DHCP for automatical IP assignment, but even that did not turn up any result.
I do not know what snap OS the servers are currently running on. From the sound of it, the drivers do power up and from what i can tell, the server does not show any problems. System lamp is blinking about once a second, the link lamp is glowing constantly and once in a while the Net lamp is blinking.

Calling Adaptec Support proved to be very enteraining, since they asked for my credid card after it was determined that the TSID was over the support due.

Anyone has any idea on how to connect to the servers ? Or did i buy some very expensive door stoppers (would seriously lower my selfesteem) ?

Please help a desperate noob !

Best regards to all

Tec

If link is glowing constant, and net is blinking, it seems they are fine.

You need to do a full factory reset, but if they are on a different IP range, im not sure that the assist program will even reveal any answers

The snap may have been set a dynamic or static ip, there is no way to telll

In theory resetting the IP and admin password should mean on reset that it gets its IP from DHCP, meaning its on the same IP range, and therefore from then on be accessible by Assist

It may mean you didn't factory reset it proparly

If the OS is doing a drive check it may take 10 min before it shows up. The disk light will be solid.

Talking to adaptec is like talking to the moon, the results are the same.

Hi All !

Thank you for the replys.

I got everything working !!! wheeeee !! so happ :o)

Thanks for the tip that i made a error with the reset to factory defaults. I did indeed. After checking with the documentation for the 5th time i finally got it right and the server is now recognized from the Assist Tool.

Software upgrade worked as well. Thanks for the PMs i recived .
