Looking for a Snap Server 2200 Mainboard

Hi all !

A while ago i got my hands on a snap server 2200 from ebay in the usa. Long story cut short, its dead. Not only as in not working but as in totaly dead.

Since i recently got another server via ebay england wich is working at the moment, or hopefully will be once the new HDD set reaches me, i figured i would fiddle around again with the dead machine to have something to do while i wait.

Supposedly it was possible at some time in the past to get replacement main bords for the 2200 series as filed service kits. Getting the advice from an other member on the bord to call snap appliance directly in the usa and ask if they can sell me one, i was told those have been taken from the market as Quantum now switches out whole units. (How you would get back to your mirrored data incase of a MB failure did not get answered though)

Anyway, i would like to ask if someone has a working ( i already have a dead one :oP ) spare Mainboard for sale. Or knows a place where i can get one from. Since rumor has it, single Mainboards are still handed out by quantum, if your english is good enough, you have excellent rethoric skills, and a snap server with warranty)

Anyway, would be very happy to get a reply or message.

Best regards to all of you

Tec.

Oh, on a side note, what hardware version is the breakpoint for the 830 to 860 release ? I was not able to get the 860 version to run on a 2.0.3 in a stable matter, even though the update process told me everything went smooth .

Quantum no longer exists.

Its now Snap Appliance

I did manage to get a 2200 Mobo, but it took a long of bloody time and effort to get it done

There is no hardware version needed.

You need V3 to v4 upgrade, then need .860

I do have a working one i have taken out of service, and put the new one in

But it has some major problems. So not really salable

I had to ring snap appliance US to get my replacement motherboard. It took a couple of weeks to get it sorted, and then $150

I suppose, if they replaced the whole snap, they would probably put the drives ina new unit to get your data off for you

Hi Sammy

Thanks for the reply.
Out of curiosity, what kind if major problems does the Mobo display ?

As i understood it, snap appliance is history now too, they are owned by adaptec.
Not sure though.

Hi Poogs

Hmmm one drive is better then no drive.
Would you in general be willing to part with it ? I am going to try the Adaptec moon dance again tomorrow but i fear i already know the outcome .

Tec

If you decide to send your unit in with drives. Make sure you get a written contract that they are to swap your current drives into a new cabinet, and/or MB replacement. Other wise it will be lost. Or better yet remove them before shipping. Don't take the chance.

Yeah, Definately

Wont it be out of warranty?

If so, will they actually do it?

Cause the company may ahve gotten worse since it was bought out by Adaptec....

I'd have to have a think

But its not really usable, as if what i remember being told, and reading through all emails about this

This motherboard was swapped out and replaced by Quantum due to some problems with it

It was a large batch that had problems. Possibly manufacturing faults...

That is what i can gather from the guy who used to do IT at my dads work told me from his memory

The replaced motherboard had been burnt out due to someone replacing the PSU with one that didnt do teh correct voltage

Capacitors have blown up, so i threw it away!
