Bling Bling

Heh, this part is just simply gorgeous if I don't say so myself! Made these on a whim, just picked them up from the machinist yesterday. Actually I just took one, the other 3 are being properly polished on the inside, you will see this one is not... This part was made and designed by me, you can refer to this thread for details: http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=440812

This part here is made from a solid cylindrical 3" diameter piece of CAST Acrylic. The piece is solid, nothing is glued together, barbs, plugs and fill glass are all o-ring sealed. Thread size is G 1/4" (BSPP Parallel thread). Enjoy, and just imaging the inside polished.

Very well done! I have machinist connections, but never think of designing things like you have. Looks to be very well made, and rugged! the use of LEDs was a great idea too.

I probably would have used "machined" aluminium instead of diamond plate, but that is just personal preference!

I always do like excessive machining.

Bling Bling always makes me chuckle as it reminds me of bum fights.

Just out of curiosity, how much did this set you back? Materials and machining, obviously!

Hmm, the 1 foot piece of cast acrylic rod was $40. I am having a batch of delrin res' made just like this one, so not that much. I need to test the durability of the acrylic, then perhaps make a batch or 2 up

Kewl, will be interested if you make a few up for resale! Delrin sounds like great idea too. I agree about testing for strength, don't need any nasty discoveries after a failure.
