damn how can i get the voltage that high.

can someone take a look and explain.

overclock everything

The last benchmark they have in that article quotes the cpu memory bandwidth as 903 MB/s?
I guess they are using ddr memory...as far as sdram goes, thats way too high to be realistic...as least i think so.
And I think ddr is much harder to overclock using the fsb. Its much less forgiving than sdr because it oc's 2 Hz for every 1 Hz overclock. Oh well..i guess its possible...but did they cool the memory with liquid nitro too?....Thats the only way i think they could have pulled that off.
The dude's pci slots must have been at 47??...lol. Anything is possible :P

first off, I'm going to tell you to take any extreme overclock with a grain of salt. There's a thread in the general forum about this stuff.

next, have you heard about the voltage mod for some of the motherboards out there? just soldier a resistor in and you can bump than voltage higher than normal right? wel if you use a lower value resistor you will have a higher end voltage, but a ton of heat to dissapate.

yeah there would be alot of heat but if youslap a 172watt pelt and water cool it that should be enough to cool it down.

I am just gunna go and buy a Miller Electric Arc welder.. I figure 150Amp should be about enough to power the 1.5ghz Athlon http://www.procooling.com/ubb/smile.gif

LOL! that would definately power it, and probably the house too! Gave me a chuckle since I stick weld pretty often.

certainly is DDR ram! I think that site known for real overclocks pretty good. I am pretty sure this is a "flash overclocker" i.e it probably won't last 5 minutes.

Cryonosis 03-20-2001 01:12 PM

you guys didn't read what used to overclock did you? he claims he results are from liquid nitrogen cooling. so the overclock is believable and very much a flash overclock. heh, would like to see him get that computer to run for 24hrs straight, cost a fortune there. :)

Mobius 04-17-2001 01:27 PM

Did you also notice they are pouring the liquid nitrogen into the styrofoam cup while *barefoot*. I would be wearing my Mighty Insulated Boots (tm)

This was a flash overclock, they ran the benchmarks in the 10 minutes the system stayed under -20 C.
