HELP i just got my peltier kit
 

i dont know where to put the cold plate , i dont know where to put the foam, and i dont know where to put the copper cream stuff , and if anyone knows a url on how to install it . i do know where to put the anti frost stuff and i do know which side is the hot side of the pelt.

do i cut a square out the center of the foam for the cpy and peltier , and do i had the foam between the peltier and water block, and do i had foam in between the cold plate

I think I'm a bit late to answer this, since you seem to have plunged ahead and done it wrong already:

• Cold plate goes between CPU & cold side of pelt
• Foam goes around everything that's going to get cold: back of mobo, around socket, around pelt, around cold plate, between cold plate & cpu package (NOT between cold plate & cpu die, though)
• I'm assuming the copper cream stuff is thermal paste, so it goes between cpu Die & cold plate, cold plate & cold side of pelt, hot side of pelt and waterblock.
• Anti frost stuff sounds like conformal coating, so that goes on the back of the mobo, and under the foam if you're using it there.
• Finally, to find out which side of the pelt is hot, and which is cold: plug it in momentarily(not over 3-5 seconds), and touch a side, if it's hot, you've touched the hot side. If it's cold, then you've got the cold side. ;)

• Yes, cut a square out of the foam so it goes around the socket, cpu, cold plate, and pelt. The above URLs show it being done.
• As for the foam between the cold plate and god knows what (since your post just ended) I'll assume you mean the CPU. Yes, it does go there, between the package (above the CPU pins) and below the cold plate. There should be more around the outside of the cold plate and cpu and pelt.
• NO foam between peltier and waterblock, that's where thermal paste goes. ;) If you meant that you wanted to put it around the hot side of the pelt and the waterblock, it's totally unnecessary.

I know that won't help, since you already set up your rig wrong, and you're pissed, but I thought I'd reply just to be thorough.

well Arcturius this is what happened i did everything except put the foam behind the mainboard the tech at cpufx said that i didnt need to.

the tech at cpufx said that i didnt even really have to worry about condensation because my intel 1.7 makes so much heat that i didnt have to worry about condensation .


but after my rig was up and running my lowest temp @ idle was 15c

now they also told me to use rc5 so that my temp would not drop that low when my rig was idle.

and i did .

but when i would reboot and check my temp in the bios it showed 90c but my temprature bay said my cpu temp was 22c

so i opened the case and i found condendsation around the waterblock and in between the waterblock and hot side of peltier.

im useing the z3 water kit with the quad fan and dual pump , and i have the sec 1223 power supply.

for now i removed the 156 watt pelt from my rig until i can get more advise from pro's like your self .

question #1 is their anything that i can buy to spray on my mainboard.

question #2 the fastest i have ran my p-4 1.7 is 2040 mhz with just watercooling,
is it possible to o/c it to 2.1 mhz with the peltier@ 30c

question #3 how long can i let my rig run with a peltier and how long will it live with the little bit of condensation.

question #4 will their always be condensation if i use a pelt, and if so then i just need learn how to protect the mainboard and cpu and just dont worry about the condensation as long as the cpu and mainboard are protected.

and 5th ? i hope you can understand me .

Just FYI.. the Z3 Kit is absolute CRAP.

Then again joe, he bought a P4 so what do ya expect :)

I honestly would have helped you till you started to turn into an ass in the other threads just cause I asked for the clarification about what you were talking about.

next time try not to be that much of a ass and maybe you will get some better help.

1. you can buy a urethane spray at an electronics shop (not consumer electronics like sears, but somewhere where electricians get thier wire and such) to spray on the back of the MB. you can also use it to protect your cards.

3. even 1 drop of water can destroy your entire system.
4. you will have condensation anytime an object is colder than the due point. - example, a nice cold bottle of cola.
there are several articles on this site that explain what to do.
