I'm looking for somewhere to buy propylene glycol. I've searched the net and found a place, but they are asking $730 for a 55 gallon drum. Is this the going rate or is there somewhere cheaper? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

is that with shipping. some place will charge by gallon or large shiping fee.

That is about going rate per gallon $13-14 for a drum. Just curious, why the large amount and what are you doing with it?

Try this place, Dynalene, this is where we purchase all of our glycol. I believe we pay about $9.00 or $10.00 per gallon- somewhere around $500.00 to $550.00 per drum, plus a deposit on the drum. Specify that you want USP Grade Propylene Glycol. They use an inhibitor package that provides a pH level consistent with equipment manufacturer's recommendations – and it protects against bioactivity and corrosion. Plus, I think they even have free shipping.

Most Auto Parts store carry "Enviromental Safe" glycol which is propylene.

AF isn't pure glycol, its premixed with distilled and other stuff. Sounds like they are talking about pure propylene glycol.

Nope, it's only 94-96% pure PG with 3% water and 1-3% inhibitor additives.

PG coolant is slicker than EG coolant. Don't get PG coolant on the floor. It takes a good long time to mop up. :D

There is also FDA food grade PG without the inhibitor corrosion protection. This is the pure PG formulation. PG is used in salad dressings, gummy bears, cough syrups, and the like as a food sweetner. It's also used with food grade equipment to lubricate mixing and spindle functions that touches food. It sure beats eating 10W-30. :drool:
