Snap 2200 running at 1TB

Hi everyone I just upgraded my snap with 2 500GB Maxtor Diamond Max 11
I only had this configuration running for 2 weeks but heres what i expirenced so far.

In the raid-0 config the array fails when under heavy data transfers im not sure if this is due to not enough power or heat.

Currently its in Jbod wth cover off no problems so far

im going to try jbod with the cover on then try to mirror with cover on and off

but at this moment it run fine in jbod but i need to find out why it fails in raid-o

Logs just say a disk has failed nothing about over heating and the disk themseleves are perfect.

Sweet

The 2200 only has 64 meg of ram, may be cache thing. Particular in RAID 0 All drive track/sector file/dir info is only stored on drive 1. Sam had problem with a maxtor in his 2200.

I up graded to a high cfm fan when I did my upgrade.

Does the maxtor models you have the EIDE interface ?

Problems with the WD drives....

Can you also give us the h/w details so we can log it?

Quick google show they are ATA133 EIDE.....

Hmmm could be a power problem. With software RAID, this unit uses CPU cycles when in a RAID config. Big drives plus heavy CPU usage could be taxing the power supply...
