Anyone know of a source for the DD Barbs?
Hello again, anyone ever find some really classy hose barbs like those on the DangerDen water blocks? You know the ones that dont really look like barbs they look like cylinders with a lip at the top versus like a 3d arrow with a hole drilled through the tip down the length. I know about the typical ocing component resources but I'm look for something a little more appealing than those ugly long brass hose barbs.

or http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=3979 They are tapped for G 1/4 (BSPP) though so they will not fit properly in NPT or NPSM threaded holes. |
Re: Anyone know of a source for the DD Barbs?
Strange, I couldn't find those in accessories.....Thank you for complete links. Proprietary eh, I pretty much got fastenal and Go2Marine memorized and I know G1/4 BSPP isnt in there can you describe that code for me please?

Re: Anyone know of a source for the DD Barbs?
BSPP = British Standard Pipe Parallel and is coded as a "G" thread in Germany
It's a straight thread with a count of 19. Very common for watercooling equipment now because it allows you to use an O-Ring instead of teflon tape. Most manufacturers use it now, except swiftech (they use NPSM). I've only found a BSPP tapping bit through http://www.Mcmaster.com but it might be available through other sources. |
Re: Anyone know of a source for the DD Barbs?
Are there rings of other material? What is the standard o-ring material? it appears to be a urethane and I'm running chilled water/methanol.

Re: Anyone know of a source for the DD Barbs?
The standard O-Ring material is Buna-N or Viton. Neither of which are fond of alcohol.

You also have to be worried about buting the correct thread for your block.

Re: Anyone know of a source for the DD Barbs?
No I understand the thread requirements now and I think I want the DD parts(if there is an adapter I want to attach it to the brass housing of the d5). Really Im just concerned about these O-rings now because I know black synthetic rubbers dont stand up to methanol. Are there silicone O-rings that can take the recompressions of these parts?
