SNAP 4500 - cannot add default gateway
Hello all:
I reset my SNAP 4500 server. DHCP kicked in and pulled an IP address but no default gateway. I am connected to the server through the serial port and trying to add the default gateway using the following command: route add default gw <the gateway ip address> I get " Operation not permitted" Any suggestions? Thanks Snap server newbie. |

Can you not set it up via the web panel?

Re: SNAP 4500 - cannot add default gateway
I cannot access the web panel through the SNAP Server Manager or by the IP address of the server. The SNAP website states that it is due to no default gateway.

If it is set up for DHCP it should retrive it along with dns info. Check your router out.

Re: SNAP 4500 - cannot add default gateway
I cant believe that it is unaccessible due to not having a default gateway....
As the gateway is the route to the internet... And if you are accessing it over a network, you dont need the internet.... What if you didnt have interent? |
Re: SNAP 4500 - cannot add default gateway
I have to agree with re3dyb0y...the gateway is only used for accessing IP addresses outside of your subnet. Since your unit pulled an IP from your DHCP server, there is no way it is in a different subnet. You have a problem elsewhere...

Re: SNAP 4500 - cannot add default gateway
I think the default IP is 10.10.10.10 , This is what the IP will be With NO DHCP. Or it could have a static IP, like most servers have.
I would clear out all of your cache on your PC. This way it is forced to reload. |
