Snap 2200 DOA continued (from a few months ago)
 

Hey all, Happy Fall!

Long story short: I bought a used 2200 off of ebay and it arrived DOA.

My technician (a radio engineer) is looking to get his hands on a schematic of the snap 2200 motherboard (in PDF or something).

He's determined that the Pentium chip isn't powering (or drawing power -- not receiving power) etc. The unit receives power from the power supply -- he traces that through the board to a drop off right to the pentium chip (I'm lost at this point -- sorry for the horrible explanation).

Thusly, the unit sits, not doing anything. Holding the power button in has no effect. The drives don't spin either. He thinks if the Pentium doesn't go, so the unit won't go. And if he can trace to a resister or power chip, he thinks he can fix it. He just needs more documentation.

He also wanted to know at what voltage the Pentium is supposed to run at.

That is one thing im not sure we have chris. We have built up some information and even some documentation resources but those are all in the form of user manuals and whatnot. Sam has a friend who used to work for Snap i believe. He would be the only person I can think of who might be able to help out. Despite all my archives i do not have any motherboard schematics. I can imagine that it was a somewhat guarded piece of information and not freely available. But i'll look around.

I would monitor the voltage on the power supply, while tring to start the unit up. It's possiable that the PS is craping out on the startup load. These PS have been know to fail.
