Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
Ok here is the deal:
I have a 2200, it has a sever name, and is part of my workgroup along with the computer I am using, and obviously has been formatted. A share has been created, but I cannot access it no matter what I try: Server name, IP etc The computer and Server are connected to a Linksys Wireless Router(Wired that is) Eveyrthing looks dandy, I can log into the server and admin it, but cannot access the share from my computer: " Address/Name does not exist ETC...." (Running XP Pro) Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
Did you set up the share in the Network Shares section of Security? I called mine Files and use the path of "\" without quotes of course.

Does it have to be the same name as the share itself? It is called Share1 and the path is "\" Just to make sure I am typing it right, how would I access this? |
Re: Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
I have tried \\SERVER_NAME\Share1
\\IP\Share1 \\SERVER_NAME\Share1$ \\IP\Share1$ |
Re: Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
you shold be able to get to it just by
\\servername |

Re: Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
Maybe Sam will chime in. I dont own a 2200 yet but the 1100 i have should be identical in the way things are set up. If you put in just the IP address of your server in internet explorer does it take you to just the administration page or does it show the Share1?

If it helps, I can ping it by IP, but not by name. Thanks again, you guys are great! |
Re: Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
Reboot the server.
Did you set the server to static IP or DHCP? Connect to the admin, security, files and folder. Click on Share1, owner should be root. Every one should have read access. Share 1 is the mounting point. Your user name is the login name on your welcome screen for XP. As you add sub folder, assign owner ship, and then access. This can be user or group. After the inital setup is done you can access the server. |

This page is not available because no disks were found. It is set as DHCP, but I have the right IP addy. I am trying to get it to work before I set anything in stone. Evreything else you stated above is good to go. |
Re: Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
What does the disk utility show about the drives?

Re: Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
Everything appears to be ok. Strange. Guess it's just time to sell it to me and get another one. There are lots of nice 1100's out there that will support the 750gb drive.

Re: Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
Are you able to view/access files via the web interface?
|

If I enter the IP addy, I can see the share as a link and then the options for administration, Active Users, and Change Password If i click on the Share link I get the folder and a link for the Parent folder since there is nothing in it. |

Re: Snapp 2200: Cannot connect
If its something like Zone Alarms, you just need to make sure the IP is in the trusted zone
