Sorry another 4100 newbie question
Hi
I have a snap 4100 the disc with it is os 2.04 My plan is to replace all of the drives with 120 gig - my problem is - that if I replace the first drive the snap boots up with a language not found message and it refuses to let me do anything else If I put the old drive back in I can replace the other 3 without problem - how do I replace the first drive ? thanks rob |
Re: Sorry another 4100 newbie question
Not having a 4100, I think you should be able to move the drive 2 over to the drive 1 position. It will miss the raid5 setup, just rebuild a new array once all the drives are in place. If the Language is missing you need a full OS (sup) file to reinstall the missing files.
Or if that doesn't work use the dd instruction in the wiki section and copy the old drive to the new, then reinit the drive. |
Re: Sorry another 4100 newbie question
Interesting, the 4000 has no problem with replacing the 1st drive as you described. Maybe an OS thing. Upgrade the OS BEFORE you change the drives out.

Yah, all the 4000's we've had were 3.4.803+ i think.

Re: Sorry another 4100 newbie question
Huh...mine didn't do that, but then again I am at 3.4.803...perhaps an OS upgrade first would help. It would seem that the older version of the OS puts the lingo file on the first disk and won't replace it by itself....odd...
