4000 to 4000 upgrade/recsue
Back ground:
I have two snap 4000. Model Software Hardware Server # BIOS 4000 series 4.0.860 (US) 2.0.1 307909 2.0.282 4000 series 3.4.807 (US) 2.0.1 308246 2.0.282 I need to upgrade the 3.4.807 to 4.0.860 courtesy of ms server 2003. I understand that the 4.0.860 patch will not do the job below 4.0 and the snap confirms this. "Problem: Invalid SUP file for the given platform. Try selecting another SUP file and repeating the operation." Question: Is there a way to transfer the os from one snap to the other? |
Re: 4000 to 4000 upgrade/recsue
On flashram units you must use the sup file.
I do not know what will actually happen if the flashram see a newer version on a drive. But if you have a drive you can sacrafice. You might try changing the drive setup to JBOD on the os v3 unit. The power down and install a v4 JBOD into the v3 os unit. If my thoughts are correct the flashram (v3) should overwrite the V4 OS drive with v3. But to my knowledge no one has had tried it. |
