D-Tek Fuzion Testing
A couple very well known people in water cooling have run some tests on the new D-Tek CPU block. The findings look very promising...

Looks promising, with the mod!
Glad to see D-Tek get back in the design game! |
Re: D-Tek Fuzion Testing
D-Tek must have strayed from CoolTechnica. Nice block. Was wondering when one of the big dogs would move to forging instead of machining. Was always thinking Swiftech would be the first. Wasn't expecting anything from D-Tek other than relabeled CoolTechnica/AquaXtreme stuff.

More testing controversy at XS forums. I saw how large the 30x 30mm die sim was and how the tester had the fuzion at 3C lower than apogee. BillA noticed and commented ASAP. Otherwise people would've been claiming another King of the Hill WB after the Fuzion ouperformed swiftechs GT at CES Originally Posted by Marci @ the entire thread in general... Re: D-Tek Fuzion Testing
If I cared more I would argue that the top blocks are all within testing error margins and when choosing a block go for reasons other than thermal performance.

Re: D-Tek Fuzion Testing
New info on CES competition.
Apogee GT outperforms dtek by 3C after Dtek was winning by 3C. I think lapping the IHS may have confound results. The temps were extremely high.... I might sell my mcw 6002 used for my pelt and replace it with to buy a fuzion. Plus I have a MCW 6000 for a pelt rig I haven't setup and can use. The H20 chillers love the MCW 6002 and pay more money for it now with LGA775 mount than what it cost originally. Actually make money on it $$:D |
Re: D-Tek Fuzion Testing
If what was posted there is right then throw those results out the window and wait for someone to do it better. They test one for 30mins and the other for 15mins? Using my equipment it takes a good hour before temps settle. How many times did they remount each block? One bad mounts can mean a huge difference in temps. And what is with lapping the IHS? I am surprised Gabe would be a part of such a farce in such a recorded situation.
In other words they proved nothing. |
Re: D-Tek Fuzion Testing
I have to agree, the results were too far off to be accurate. How is that for TIM cure time? I also like the way the amount of burn-in time changed. I guess they had some kind of "feeling" for when it was right. :nono:
What we need is to have tests done on one test bed with C2D and Quad core CPU. Then single die CPU testing would give us a better all around picture. |

Looks like I was half right anyway. :hammer: |
Re: D-Tek Fuzion Testing
I agree, test results are confounded many ways. First by running test for different time periods and burn in. Noticed how the temps keep getting lower after each test. Notice how mounting equipment got mix-matched. Testing procedures are important part of the testing as much as the testbed itself.
TIM cure time is important for best temps but it's not going to change temps were delta is by 30-40C range. Bill always said don't lapp Intel IHS. and I think that created some problems with the results. Once they change the gasket to convex the baseplate of apogee, the CPU inner cores got lower temps but the outer ones remained the same. Didn't Bill always said lapping an Intel IHS created bad contact patch. |

Re: D-Tek Fuzion Testing
Really amusing at best. Still surprised Gabe would partake in such a public event with less than optimal (hell even useable) test bench. For Christ sake the freaking mobo was dying! Who knows what readings were correct or what settings were working properly or not.
What I would like to see is a test of couple of these top blocks against a couple top Air coolers. Not just thermal performance, but noise, ease of use, cost, and overclockability/underclockability. |
