Dead snap 2200 drive (s)?

I have a question, would anyone care to help me to get a snap server 2200 up and running again. I cloned an image for the 2200 from the existing "good" hdd as per some instructions that I had found here at the pro cooling forums only to find that it was not the good hdd, in fact both drives were damaged and I am unable to make the appliance come to life. I have 2 snap server 4100s and also tried to clone the os image from that and to no avail. I really would like to get this little guy working again but I am unsure as to which course of action to take next. Any help would be appreciated.

Your only hope is to get a 2200 image file. None other will work.

If the 2200 still booted on the old drives you missed a value, try again.

The old drives have since suffered mechanical failure and will not be able to have any data pulled from them unfortunately. Im pretty stuck here without either another working 2200 or the os image for 3.x. I dont understand why adaptec wants to charge so much money for software, its not like you can go somewhere else and get it. IDK how much they want, but Im sure its a lot. Very disappointed.:nono:

The last I heard it was ~$200. But it want do any good unless the snap is bootable. May check on ebay, maybe some one is selling a HD pre loaded with the OS. Adaptec has been giving some of the Old version away upon request. The one they send a link for is 3.4.807, which does support large disk. But does not support AD 2003.

I wouldnt mind having the old version because they offer the upgrade free if I am not mistaken? So I would need to request from customer service...hm...Any recommendation on what I should say? I am normally persuasive, but I would like any pointers you could give me on what I might say that may key into it better.

Adaptec has been like a turkey shoot, dont know what responce you will get. And depending on SN they know what OS was shipped. So if it was shipped with v4 they will give you a link to the updater some times. The other are told their unit is past support and get nothing. If yours is v3. Tell them you are replacing a failed drive and would like the latest v3 (3.4.805 or 807) for LBA Support. If v4 you need to tell them you need AD 2003 support. But without a bootable drive all this is mute. We only know the hack way for installing the os. The factory way/method we do not know or have. Adaptec will sell you a HD with the OS loaded for a price. Many IT departments have these for quick repair. And the interprized hd are for heaver/server use.

SnapAppliance and Adaptec has always had "You need to send it in for repair". And if you ignor all the messages telling you have a problem when you loose a drive. You passed on the home/office repair. Factory service will be required on some models. It's amazing how may IT Admin's ignor the problem. Now if you picked up or had one given to you after the drives were removed. You will need to be paient while your searching for these files. Other have been sucessful using BT, but that is kind of like the www underground. Others have not.

We are monitored by adaptec/SnapAppliance by the notice at the top of the thread. So we have to play by the rules.

Re: Dead snap 2200 drive (s)?

Certainly I do understand this, I am merely searching for some help for getting this server running again, as it came in to my shop failed and I have been cleaning out all of the things from my department that are not working or not repairable and understand that these do not boot without an os on the hdd(s). I appreciate your time and willingness to communicate with me on this matter. Thank you and I hope to speak to you again sometime.
