Heat generated by modern CPUs?

Maybe I'm just searching for the wrong thing, but I am having a lot of trouble trying to find information on modern CPUs and how much heat they generate under various loads. I don't need anything exact, but just something to get a general idea.

Does anyone know where I can find this information? It seems like it should exist somewhere since heat in = heat out. It'd be good to know for designing an efficient system.

You can find TDP numbers for all Intel procs on their page: http://processorfinder.intel.com/
