help with 4100
i just bought a snap 4100 from ebay
it comes without any HD's before i ask this Q i have read through your forum and find out that it can fit 4x30 gb only but some people claim that they can fit more than that. could you please help me . if its can handle 4x30 gb only then im done because its hard to find new 30gb in the market. regards |
Re: help with 4100
I don't know where you got the idea that the 4100 will only take 30Gb drives - my searches through the forums all suggest that the drive size limit is 137Gb. At least one member has successfully upgraded his 4100 from 4x30Gb to 4x160Gb (with the proviso that only 137Gb on each drive is usable). 80Gb drives are readily available - and cheap - but why stop there? If you're prepared to accept that some of your disk space is unusable, you should be able to get to 548Gb.
As to how you do that... Someone else will have to fill you in. |
Re: help with 4100
Read the sticky on the 4100 and the FAQ's. Depending on hardware revision it may not unless it has had the modification. You must actually look on the MB to confirm. There is at least one rev 003 that has not had the mode, all rev 003 were suppost to have it.

Thanks joebloggs99,blue68f100
it means i can use 4X120GB 480GB is more than enough to backup my server. I'll just have to compare the MB MOD pic ,and see it it's ver 001or 003 |
Re: help with 4100
You can use 160GB's, and it will mean you will get much nearer to the maximun of 137Gb space
May get another 10-15GB (Makes up for some of the overheads lost at 120's) |
