I have a snap server 2200. There are two 80GB HDDs x 2 = 160GB. I got upgrade new 250GB HDD I replaced second 80GB to 250GB HDDs. When I turn power on system, network and disk still flashing. I tried type http://snapserver/config/debug not work. I leave first hdd set master and second hdd set salve is that right?

You need to leave it a while

If the disk lights flashing a lot, its more than likely formatting

Re: 80GB upgrade to 250GB

Help! This disk has no valid file system and cannot be formatted, checked or labeled.

If this disk is part of a broken set (RAID 5, Stripe, or Mirror), you can use the Remove a Disk Configuration guide to change the broken set back to individual disks.

How can I use the remove a disk configuration?

Re: 80GB upgrade to 250GB

Please can you fill in some details:

Snap Model, BIOS revision, SnapOS version

What was the original configuration of the unit (JBOD, RAID 0, etc)

What configuration (Master/Slave, CS) are you now using

What happened when you powered up the unit? How long did the lights flash? What pattern? Are they still flashing now?

Do you have any access to the unit web interface?

What does the system log say?

Armed with this I might be able provide some pointers. Good luck!

Re: 80GB upgrade to 250GB

Ok - the Remove a Disk Configuration you refer to is part of the web interface. Without access to that you can't change the disk configuration.

I suggest you return to the original configuration: i.e. two 80Gb disk. You need to install the original disks the same jumper configuration as they had, and then attempt to boot the system. if you can get that to work then change the disk configuration from the web interface, power down and install the new disk as slave and restart. Then we'll see where we have got to.

Note: the operating system is stored on the first HDD in the system - you MUST get this working, or nothing will boot. Are you absolutley sure you know which of the two 80Gb disks is which?

Note also: some units use Cable Select rather than Master/Slave. Be sure you know which to use, and in the case of Cable Select, plug the drives into the cable in the correct order.

Good luck!

Re: 80GB upgrade to 250GB

2200 are set to master, both drives. If you are in RAID0, loose 1 causes both to be lost.

Make sure the drives are in a RAID1 config.

If the 2200 does not boot swap the drives. and try again. Then use the disk utility to see which is the good drive. Then follow the upgrade in the FAQ's.

Re: 80GB upgrade to 250GB

Also, Might help to put both origonal drives back in, make sure all is well and make sure that they are set to JBOD before attempting to upgrade a single drive and then the other. I had that problem with my 2200. Only problem was that when i got mine (from ebay) it only had ONE drive in it. It did boot and work fine with teh one drive but it took me quite a while to break the mirror set back to JBOD. But after that it was super easy.
