radiator + pump in closet?

i want to get water cooling but i still dont want any noise and i really dont have the space in my case. so im thinking about routing my tubing to my closet, about 4 feet away from the computer, and cooling it that way. i would put the radiator, pump, and reservoir in there. put im not too sure what pump. ive been hearing about use an iwaki, but which one? and where can i even buy one?

If it's only 4 feet away, any standard pump could probably do it. The Laing DDC would probably work, my favorite. Both Dangerden and Swiftech sell that. D-TEK's pump would probably work just fine too.

I'd worry about heat build-up in the closet.

ya i was just thinking about that. i guess i could leave the closet door open if i need to.. at least it gets the fans away to me.

Re: radiator + pump in closet?

You could always go with a pump in the closet and pump the water through a set of one or more radial-finned transmission coolers for a no-fan system. Take a look at this transmission cooler for $55. Bolt it (and maybe one or two others in series) onto your computer and you might have a very quiet system.

is this the same concept as the zalman reserator? i really want to use a real readiator tho, performance will be better.

Yes. Same as the zalman but cheaper (you do the labour though).

Performance, Silence, Affordability. Pick two.
