New drives in 4500

I have installed 500 GB drives in a couple 4400's with no problems - they saw the drives and had no problem using the full capacity of the drive.

However, tonight I tried doing the same on a 4500 and it still thinks it has 236 GB drives, not the 473 GB that the 4400's have.

The 4500 does not have a JBOD mode, so how do I format the drives, so it recognizes the full capacity?

Thanks,

Paul Samuelson

Re: New drives in 4500

The only way to format the drives that I have found is through the menu. But I have not found a need to use the debug.

On the Guardian OS if you were using snap shots, it records the SN and drive configurations. You need to reset to factory settings. The Guardian OS is using RedHat Linux as a kernel, it that helps you. The real earlier versions were using Gentoo.

The Guardian OS will auto format if Hot swaped. If you power down to install the drives it only copies the OS over. Then you can use the drive menu to setup the drives.
